    More like a homage probably.

Everything in Die Another Day was supposed to be a homage, too. Not all of it worked.

    Most of it didn't.

Two things killed that film: the homages and Berry. The teaser and most of the first act worth both brilliant without either. Both the homages and Berry showed up, and the whole thing went strait into the toilet.

I liked most, not all, of the homages in DAD. It was the 20th film and they wanted to make a big deal about that. Didn't like the Berry in a bikini scene but that was about it.

I actually like DID very much. It came about that time in my life (I was 17) when I realized that realism may often get in the way of having fun. Actually, seeing that movie in the theatre, watching all that unbelievable stuff, was pretty much the moment of aforementioned realization. When I had first seen TWINE, I couldn't get over the buzzsaw cutting the titanium-alloyed BMW in half. Once I saw DID, I got over stuff like that, and just enjoyed the fun of it.

Fun. I kinda miss that in the Craig movies.

^To be fair, there was fun in Craig's films...just of a more dry, deadpan nature.

The classic Bond one-liners are there, just not as over-the-top. SEE, in Casino: "Oh, I'm sorry. That last hand--it nearly killed me."

Reference to the classic Bond Girl "name" gags:
"My name is Mr. Beech...and yours is Stephanie Broadchester--"
    "I am NOT!"
"You'll have to trust me on this!"

There's his seduction of Miss Fields in Quantum.

Granted, it's not AS fun as Brosnan's films. Still, I think the Craig era has the right amount of humor for the honest-to-goodness thrillers they're trying to make with these new ones.

Plus Craig, like Dalton is better suited to a more deadpan delivery...just once I'd like to hear Craig do a cheesy Brosnan/Moore line though

Well, he KIND OF did in Quantum Of Solace after the boat chase when he was asked whether Camille was ok and he simply said "she's sea sick". Despite the intended humour, it did have Craig's signature deadpan delivery, but I like that a lot. I know it's not for everybody, but I got a chuckle out of it

There was humor in "Casino Royale" but more deadpan

    -Bond and the Range Rover
    -Matthis and his antics

You know DAD is bad when the best thing about it is Madonna ;)

I suspected this Eve was going to become an upgrade of Moneypenny. Ha!

Dalton is my favorite, and I don't mind if Craig's humor is dry, just some of his films are a little too dark or depressing and it counter acts the deadpan. It is frustrating to me when you see Craig in some of his smaller, earlier roles and he is sexy and deadpan perfection. Then you see him as Bond and it is a downgrade. If the tone just lightened up a little bit, it would be glorious.

No Madonna was almost the worst thing about it. Graves robot suit was the worst, yes even the invisible car was better than Madonna...

I felt similar about Pierce Brosnan in Remington Steele and Pierce Brosnan in the Bond films.

have to agree with this. DAD was just several layers of bad rolled together.
