He's writing Zorro comics for Dynamite. I wish he'd do more Grendel or Mage.

I still don't know why they didn't give Paul Cornell a Super book. I could pose a guess that maybe they did and he turned it down? Maybe he felt he already told the Superman story he wanted to...which was really the Luthor story, that finale was so awesome. The Reign of Doomsday was not.

I want to think somebody told me that The Black Ring was sort of a great-art-through-necessity type deal; that is, he wanted to do Superman in Action Comics, but JMS' further defilement of the medium of comics put a kibosh on his Superman plans.

I see a comment over at bleeding cool that would explain that and which I really like to boot:

The new twist? Jor-El wasn't sending Kal to Earth he was trying to sacrifice him to Rao the sun god to save Krypton.

they'd never do it but that would be great. :guffaw:

I dunno - I only read a few issues myself, and thought she was adorable. She's a kind of withdrawn science nerd who evolves in like three seconds into a super-powered stripper and starts ordering all the dimmer bulbs around.

    Redhead, too.

So poor Krypto wasn't a sufficient sacrifice? :censored:

I don't understand the recent "Save Krypto" thing that seems to be going around. Yeah, I love Krypto, but this isn't the first time that he "didn't survive" Krypton in the comics. The Byrne/Wolfman reboot in the '80s eliminated Krypto as well.

He eventually came back. Just like he will again down the line.

People who read the first few years of the Post-Crisis Wonder Woman would beg to differ.

Comics readers of that era are all so old and toothless that their opinions are as nearly worthless as their memories...

...uh, fuck. Was I going to post something? I've lost my train of thought.

I never read it, so I don't know if it's any good, but he did write an Ultimate Wolverine vs Hulk series a couple years ago.

It was quite fun but the almost 2 year long break between issues killed the mood.

George wasn't writing straight out of the gate with postcrisis Wonder Woman. It was a fellah called Greg Potter. They probably collaborated and then George thought he was ready for the book on his own when Potter wanted to head off.

I don't understand the Save Krypto thing either and I'm a fan. He'll be eventually and it's not like he didn't exist entirely. I kind of like that he was Jor-El's dog.

I wasn't crazy about seeing his corpse, though...

We might not be seeing Krypto soon, but there's no way hat we are not going to see a dozen bizarro Kryptos attacking Superman on Luthors orders some time in the next 6 months.

I wonder if they could have killed him off if his cartoon was still running?

Meh, didn't look a thing like him.

Krytonians look exactly like human beings. Their dogs look like little pigs in Klingon drag.

^Hmm...maybe I should check out Action Comics #2. I was in my LCS earlier tonight and noticed they still had a large stack of them sitting on the shelves.

Perez co-wrote the first two issues with Potter. Potter then left (either by choice, or by force - sources vary), and Perez took full control with scripts being done by Len Wein.

It's a $4, 20 story page ripoff. Punish them for their temerity. Punish them for me.
