Hey, I can understand that. I haven't read AotF, but I also do tend to typecast characters from Star Trek or other SF when I'm reading Trek books. Don't know why, it just seems to work out that way.

Very nice. I tried to cut and paste Katee Sackhoff head onto a Starfleet uniform with Photoshop awhile back, but I couldn't find any matching angles so I gave up.

From what I imagined Vale to look like, Katee Sackhoff's hair is all wrong.

^Well, there's no reason she can't change her hairdo.

True she could change her hair. But her look besides that seems all wrong.

I don't see how. I've seen Ms. Sackhoff as Vale literally since I first read her description. She is just perfect for the role IMO.

I've just started SCE and I was curoious if KRAD or any of the other authors involved had a fantasy cast for it?

Well, the obvious ones are Lycia Naff for Gomez, Jay Baker for Stevens, Bari Hochwald for Lense, Charley Lang for Duffy, James Doohan for Scotty, Katy Boyer for Soloman, and Nikki Cox for Sarjenka, since they're all who played those characters on screen (or, in Boyer's case, played another Bynar). And yes, I know that Naff is retired from acting and Doohan's dead, but I don't care. :p

As for the others, here's my fantasy cast:

Gold: Harry Morgan (another one who's retired from acting, but the template for Gold is Colonel Potter)
    Tev: John Rhys-Davies
    Abramowitz: Maura Tierney
P8 Blue: voice of Tress MacNeille
    Corsi: Marjorie Monaghan
    Hawkins: D.B. Woodside
    Barnak: Nicholas Campbell
    Conlon: Jaime Ray Newman
    Wong: Terry Chen
    Salek: Phil Morris

The rest of the crew I have mental images for, but no particular actor in mind.

Not completely. According to her IMDB bio...

And her pics definitely look more recent than 1991, which was her last screen credit before going into journalism.

I don't know why but I imagine Vale better as Amanda Tapping... I probably just watch too much Stargate.

I never pictured Tapping for Vale, but I can't think of a good reason why not, sooooo..... :)

I'll have to go back and read my SCE books - I don't remember the character of Tev, but I have to see who John Rhys-Davies is going to be playing :)

Just recently I saw Lycia Naff's TNG episodes for the first time in quite a few years. I'd forgotten just how utterly adorable she was. Why didn't they keep her around longer?

I'm torn... I like that idea, but I conceived him as David Ogden Stiers when I first wrote the character (ironically based on your description, KRAD), and I still think of him that way. I guess you're more flexible than I am.

No idea who any of those are.

I know you said this a while back, but I can't remember, how old is Vale supposed to be?
I must admit I'm curious now to see who Conlon is, because I loved Jamie Ray Newman (Lt. Cadman) in the Stargate Atlantis where McKay was stuck in her body.

I don't fantasy cast very much, but for me, John Rhys-Davies is Tev and almost always has been. I like Stiers, but he doesn't strike me as pompous enough.

That's what IMDb is for, Christopher. You should at least know Newman from Stargate Atlantis.

Cadman, Christopher, the magnificently snarky Laura Cadman. She's easily my third or fourth favorite character on the show, depending on my mood toward McKay that day. :D

ETA: IMO, there is no such thing as watching too much Stargate, Lord_Trekie . *high five*
