The Simon and Schuster online catalogue has been updated with a bunch of new covers. They're all marked not final: While I'm sure it's not final at all, I really like that impressionistic Rings of Time cover!
I don't - it reminds me of the old copyright-dodging "Best Of Trek" covers... The Storming Heaven and Forgotten History ones are great though.
Those all look great - although it looks a lot like someone has left some margin indicators on the Forgotten History cover. And the cover of Storming Heaven suggests things are not going to end well for Starbase 47-Vanguard...
Okay, even though it's a tentative cover, it looks like Forgotten History is being billed as a DTI book after all, rather than a TOS book. Maybe that'll change, I dunno. But I like the graphical continuity of using the Shepherd Gate Clock face again, unifying it with the WTC cover. Heck, I like the design, period. It works well for the book. Anyway, the blurb is the one for Watching the Clock and is definitely not right.
Thanks for posting those. I hadn't seen the RINGS cover yet! (Just got the copyedited ms. in the other day. I know what I'm doing this week.)
I love the old BoT covers. This one would have been great if it were hand drawn in true BoT style, and not CG. As it is, it kinda reminds me of the faux-DS9 on the cover of the "Far Beyond the Stars" novelization. The Vanguard and DTI covers are good.
That's a lot of Tholian ships storming heaven. Is this a red herring or is Vanguard going to be Tholarized?
I really like all four of those covers. Like Christopher, I like that they've kept the clock face for the DTI books. I always love it when series use a consistent style for it's covers.
I'm really a fan of all four of these. Really great stuff. I especially like the That Which Divides cover. Simple, but beautifully colored and mysterious. Nicely done. (Sidenote: between Paths Of Disharmony, novellas in Declassified, Vanguard 7, and That Which Divides, Wardilmore sure have been busy lately, eh?)
It is the final book of the series and it's written by David Mack, so I expect there to be more than a few deaths. Mack's blood lust is unquenchable. Not that there is anything wrong with that. Aaron McGuire
mmmmm ... TOS nerdvana ... glhlhlhlhlh ... Ok - I am officially excited about trek novels again. Maybe someone has been listening to the "not enough old school TOS" whining! Also, I just started the first DTI book and I'm impressed. Glad to see there's another one coming up. And, it's not just a DTI book but its TOS era. Nice!
The Rings of Time and That Which Divides covers just look weird to me. The other two look nice, and Storming Heaven in particular looks epic.
The cover for Rings Of Time doesn't excite me but then again I never try to judge books by their covers.
Not unless you're Stephen King or J. K. Rowling. And for a tie-in novel? The licensor gets cover approval, not the author.
