They seem to be suggesting it'll feel more like CR than QoS.

I'm guessing Skyfall refers to the sky metaphorically falling in on M's head!

I wonder if this'll be Dench's last film? (last Bond film that is!)

Yeah, I think it's been stated that this is probably her last Bond.

I think that makers her the second longest running M after Lee (Although one can say she played two different Ms)

And Craig gets his shirt off...I have at least one female friend who will be very happy about that.

^Look, if anyone other than David Arnold does the score, it will be a big letdown. He is the heir to John Barry--he captures the style and essence, while still making it appealing to a "modern" audience.

As for the title song...I say it's high time we go back to the "jazzy" style of the '60s Bond films. If not Shirley Bassey--at least someone to emulate that style.

(Tragically, Amy is no longer with us...but you get the idea.)

They're only just now about to begin filming, so I'm not surprised there's been no confirmation of a composer or title artist yet. I wouldn't be surprised if David Arnold returns again, though.

I'm just happy that we're finally getting another Bond film. :D Now that we have a confirmed title for the movie, any chance we could get a thread retitle?

It's about time we got another Bond Film. I really want to see Craig have a great Bond Film and while I liked Casino Royale, I didn't really enjoy Quantum of Solace. Hopefully Skyfall (Really like the title too) is his best one yet.

i hope Arnold does return, i'm sure he will i just want it confirmed. but yeah, like Lord Vader said, i'm just glad they're finally set to make another Bond film after all the setbacks they've went through the past several years.

Disappointed that they didn't go with a Fleming title (oddly enough, given the plot description Property of a Lady actually might have worked), but the title they chose has a nice John Gardner vibe/Evening Standard comic strip vibe to it. I'm also getting a vibe that this might be intended as a last hurrah for Judi Dench as M, too.

I just hope they don't forget that Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace were intended to be the first 2 parts of a trilogy. Both films left a number of story threads hanging, though that said while QoS got away with being set an hour after Casino Royale ended, it will be harder to rationalize Skyfall taking place immediately after QoS yet made 6 years later. So hopefully the Bond we see in Skyfall will be one who has 6 years of additional experience as opposed to the still-wet-behind-the-ears Double-O we had in the last 2 films.

Indeed, if you compare year-to-year, if Skyfall takes place in 2012, 6 years after the on-screen date of Casino Royale, Craig's Bond should by now have encountered Blofeld, done the LECTER tango with Tatiana Romanova and Red Grant, and loved and lost Tracey.

If I were EON, I'd push to have Bond 24 commissioned quickly with a release date to restore some confidence in the series. We're in the era of film series being made back to back, anyway, so they could set in on Bond 24 for a 1963 release (50th anniversary of From Russia With Love), confirm Daniel Craig for another outing now, eliminating some of the "is he going to stay on" speculation, and start filming it right after Skyfall is done.

Re: Richard Arnold. He does a good job, but there are others who would do well if he didn't come back. Murray Gold comes to mind, and Bear whats-his-name who composed for Battlestar Galactica. John Barry didn't score every "classic era" Bond - indeed two of the more striking scores in the series were done by others - Bill Conti's For Your Eyes Only and Monty Norman did most of Dr. No (we'll put the James Bond Theme debate to the side for a moment). A one-off by someone else could be quite refreshing. Or they could pull a rabbit out the hat and snag someone like John Williams, just to be different.

Unless you can provide a link backing up your claim, that was never the case. CR was made purely as a stand-alone, Bond begins movie. Everything was pretty much resolved by the end of the film.

QoS was not a direct follow-up to CR until after CR hit and TPTB liked what they saw. Only then did they expand on the CR plot line.

QoS had its ending re-edited, intentionally so the series wouldn't be locked into having the next film be a follow-up.

What's this still about Arnold not confirming about composing the score? I thought we already had this debate a couple of months ago? Anyway the title is not bad, I don't mind it at all and I'm pumped for the film even with John Logan's involvement.

Yeah and one thing I really like about CR/QoS is that they bookend each other really well. One starts in snowy Eastern europe and ends in sunny Italy, the other starts in sunny Italy and ends in snowy Eastern europe. At the start Bond is a man who can't see the bigger picture and kills a low level underling he should be trying to keep alive, and at the end he sees the bigger picture to such an extend that he doesn't kill the one man he probably really wants to, the Algerian who turned Vesper. At the start MI6 have no idea about Quantum but by the end they know the name of the organisation and, thanks to Bond, know many of the major players (guessing Guy Haines isn't a special advisor to the PM anymore) plus what Bond found out from Green, plus the Algerian guy they can now pump for further info...plus Bond foiled the Bolivian plot.

Personally I think Qauntum's major strength was that nobody knew it existed, now its in the full light of day I see it being much less of a threat.

Rather looking forward to a stand alone 007 adventure...
