Without Robert Plant, what's the point?

I hope to god this is just a false rumour. How can you have Zep without Plant? Jason Bonham I can accept, because even though he ain't his father, he's pretty good, and there's a family connection there; but no-one can replace Plant behind the microphone.

It ain't Zep without Plant...just a cover band. Just like I couldn't gel to Hagar with Van Halen. It just wasn't Van Halen without Roth.

If they do this, they should go under a different name. Queen should have used a different name when performing w/o Freddie. Well, they kinda did (Queen + Paul Rodgers)

It just won't be the same without Plant. I hope he comes around and decides to join them after all.

I think Sabbath did ok with Dio instead of Ozzy, and I don't mind Deep Purple with Coverdale instead of Gillan, but Zeppelin without Robert Plant is a non-starter as far as I am concerned.

Dio Sabbath was pretty good, but I still think Iommi should have called them something else. Why didn't he just call that version of the group 'Heaven and Hell' all along?

    Because it was Black Sabbath.

They weren't the first famous band to switch lead singers and keep the same name, you know.

AS a big Van Halen fan, I just think of them as 2 different bands. Because both Roth and Hagar had great stuff, just very different stuff.

Relax, folks, it's in The Sun. 99% of stories, especially showbiz stories, in that 'newspaper' are bullshit. David Tennant to be replaced as Dr Who, Holly Valance to replace SMG as Buffy The Vampire Slayer - just two examples of the shite they've printed. File this under the same headings.

The Sun's articles have to be taken with a massive hessian sack full of salt. But that said, I really hope this news is bogus. Wikipedia's Led Zep main article includes the news that they are rehearsing with an 'American singer' as well.

They're not new, though. I remember hearing them on the radio back in 1990, and they make a point of not pretending to be Led Zeppelin. For one thing, the lead singer is an Elvis impersonator.

^ And they cover Zep songs in a reggae style. Plus they mix them with Elvis songs. So you get Heartbreaker Hotel and You Ain't Nothing But a Black Dog, etc.

Yeah, I know. I just had to point this out :)

I've been listening to them since the 1990's, my friends think I'm nuts for listening to a group like this. For one, I think they have pretty good music there.

Robert Plant is touring with Alison Krauss right now. That's the reason there's a hold up. They've put out an amazing CD and he's focusing on it right now. I still think there's a great possibility of a Led Zeppelin reunion.
