*waves at Ulva* Hi :) Nice to meet you. You joined 2 years after I left so that we never got a chance to get to know each other.
Am I right to assume you are fond of Sea Salad?

Well, actually no. It's me playing with a word, nothing else. There are several words for wolf in Swedish, Danish and Norwegian, one being ulv. Hang an a on that (ulva) and it becomes a female wolf, the way a child would feminise something. So no lettuce or body parts or even that Scottish island named Ulva.

Nice to meet you all. :)

^^ you'd have to add a letter, teacake. Unless you mean Ulna which is a bone in your forearm.

Ulna, being named after a female bear IRL I much appreciate your choice of name :D And it's about time there were a few female wolves in Nordic Mythology after Geri & Freki who afaik are male specimens.

Ack, the Norse mythology, of which we really know so little. But yeah, I'd be happy to enrich it. If Marvel can mess with it, so can anyone else. ;)

And I'd hate to change topics from such an engrossing conversation, but I was talking to a friend of mine last night, and I told him about the time spider1 got super fucking drunk and dropped the "banne" on the admiral's lounge. And how another lounge moderator (I wanna say ... Captain Ice?) stayed up for hours un-banne-ing us. Good times.

I don't think you were posting as much then as you are now. Cause I really don't remember seeing you in that lounge.

I lurked before actually joining, mainly because I was already on some other boards regularly. All I remember in 1999 is that a lot of people left the main board I went to so I started posting somewhat irregularly here.

I should have added "well" as was implied.

Nothing sexier than a woman who can cook. But not because I want her to go make me a sandwich, but because she can't fully appreciate the awesomeness of my cooking unless she can do it herself. :techman:

Some of us can manage to set off the fire alarm while making a frozen pizza, so the answer to that would appear to be "no." :ouch:

 The more you know and the more interested you get, the more appreciative you become when you come across someone with obvious knowledge and skill. It's the subtle things, nuances, that's noticeable. But never marry a chef. You'll be doing all the cooking and get Guide Michelin critique every day.

Did the microwave live to tell that story?

As a German proverb states: Love comes through the stomach :D

I agree that only a good cook can appreciate the quality of cooking. I remember one of my first dinner dates with Daystrom, who is an excellent cook himself. He sat there, eyes fixed on me and grinning like mad. "What?!" I demanded and he said: "I've never seen someone enjoy their food that much."

Btw, if you ever happen to meet him, try his beef stew, his chicken curry or his gumbo - yummy stuff!

Gumbo! And Curry! I love it! Actually, I love almost any kind of food. :borg:

And cinnamon rolls with milk is the way to any man's heart. ;)
