Much of the treknobabble, I have no problem but Cusak speaking through time to different Defiant crew members, even though dead-was beyond the pale.

    Can anyone (Timo) illuminate me?

Haven't you ever seen the movie Frequency? Same idea. So she wasn't dead while talking to them, she sent a signal forward in time and they sent one backwards in time.

Good episode. The moment that sticks with me is when she fakes her death when the doctor is ignoring her. Big LOLS

Technically she wasn't sending the message forward in time, the energy barrier around the planet was shifting the transmission forward in time.

It was the second time altering energy barrier around a planet the Defiant encountered in just over a year. The previous one was in "Children of Time".

Bashir should have threw it back in her face....

    CUSAK - I ate her.
BASHIR- Oh good, I was getting tired of having to ignore her.

Well, she was sending the signal that was being shifted forward. Same diff. :)

For whatever reason, the communications to and fro were going through a time distortion effect. IMO it's not really any more unreasonable to take the leap of faith that that could be possible than it is to accept space warping and instant faster-than-light interstellar two way communications.

I liked the episode, but I never understood why they never bothered to look up Cusak or her ship and realize that she's been missing for a long time. You'd think that would be standard protocol to make sure it wasn't some sort of trap.

They often eschew logic over storytelling dramatics. Thankfully. :)

Such a sad end for Cusack too.

Communicating with people who are on the way to rescue you. They are literally right around the corner when they tell you they'll be there any minute...only to have the communication stop and you die alone with no idea what happened to your rescue. :(

Funny, I found her to be overly needy, passive aggressive, manipulative and kind of creepy.

She basically talked herself to death. Instead of meeting her death with any kind of dignity, she met it whining and complaining to a bunch of strangers she emotionally blackmailed into listening to her.

Why does this woman feel the need to drag everyone's personal problems out of them??

Can you tell I didn't like this episode?

It was classic sci fi to me. Something straight out of the original Trek.

I could easily imagine an episode like this from TOS series with Kirk, McCoy and Scotty in the same roles.
