What they did for Lost was appropriate. It went well with the show's eerie ominous tone. If they did do a full theme & credits sequence, something like what they're doing with The Walking Dead might have worked. I liked that they did something different. To me, it was preferable to yet another orchestral piece.
I'm going with any/all versions of the "Enterprise" theme. And 99 % of all 80s-90s ABC "Family Sitcoms" with their generic pop rock ballads about togetherness or whatever. Not only did they all suck, but I swear: you could have randomly suffled the "Full House," "Family Matters," "Step by Step," "Just the Ten of Us," "Who's the Boss," "Perfect Strangers," etc. theme songs among the different shows each week and no one would have noticed the difference, they were that generic.
I LOVED the A-Team theme; I thought it was perfect; it set the mood for the show really well. The theme songs I really hated were all the sappy little tunes, like G-man said, that could easily belong to any other show: Family Ties, Perfect Strangers, Full House, etc. Blah.
I've grown to...accept the ENT theme tune. And I love that series. But I'll still happily ffwd through credits.
I actually liked the theme for SeaQuest 2032. Sometimes I watch the beginning of an episode on Netflix just to hear the theme. I liked the music on the other seasons but not as much. One theme I really can't stand is Three's Company.
I was not a fan of that one, personally, but the fact it was sung by Johnny Mathis gave it some quality that most of the later ABC ripoffs lacked. "Three's Company," like "Charles in Charge," was actually so bad it was kind of good IMO.
I disagree, the original theme music to L&O as on the DVD's and FX is the better theme, rather than peice of junk that five (is it) uses. But then again how much of that is down to getting used to one before hearing the other. Enterprise S3-4 as well.
Nothing, NOTHING compares to the awfulness that was the theme for Dogtanian and the Three Muskehounds. [yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VR9J2ITspyU[/yt]
I managed to last 30 seconds, but once it started repeating after that mark, I was like "nope!" and shut it off. I have no idea why anyone would want that to run 1:30.
Don't listen, once it's there it's there forever! It's like herpes, once you've got it it's there for life and can just reappear at any time. It's not a theme but this could be the antidote. [yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umUOiXAFAyg[/yt]
That's how I feel about Bones. The show's good, but the theme isn't. I mute it whenever it comes on now.
Penn Jillette swears this works to get any song out of your head: [yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUERL6ITsAE[/yt] Not that I'm recommending it as one of the "worst TV themes," because it's not. I'm surprised so many people don't like firefly's theme. I thought it was perfect for the show.
The *original* original L&O theme, the one they used for the first three or four seasons...I didn't care for that one: [yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yVL0GBunw0A[/yt] Then about when Sam Waterston came aboard, they changed it to a version with deeper bass, I greatly preferred that version: [yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xz4-aEGvqQM[/yt] That being said: I didn't much like the original Criminal Intent theme (the one with the fuzz guitar and all that crap): [yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08yFk2xZ4oA[/yt] After Trial By Jury got cancelled, CI got its theme. [yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ccu2Q0SCSo[/yt] Worst L&O theme of all, though? The second version of the Law & Order: LA theme. Whoever performed it sounded asleep!
I dislike most of the 80's theme songs with lyrics: Golden Girls is among the worst, along with Charles in Charge, Different Strokes, The Facts of Life, Family Ties, etc.
I always thought Queen's hard-rocking "Princes of the Universe," the theme from Highlander, seemed glaringly inappropriate for a fantasy-action-adventure show. YMMV. [yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nlqejkBhoSE&feature=relmfu[/yt]
I love the Homeland theme. Having earlier dissed the ENT theme song, I think the early seasons DS9 theme is the more egregious.
