Yeah I've often thought that Rich uses a tablet or smart phone even to write his stories, all he cares about is getting the "scoop" out.
Cool news! I'll definitely check it out when it hopefully is published as a trade paperback. You're absolutely right. This must happen.
This sounds pretty cool. Though I am kind of surprised they're going with TNG. Though IDW has done TNG before, the majority of their Trek work is TOS or TOS related.
While I would guess they'd probably go for the "easy" mix of having the Cybermen and the Borg as villains, I would love to see the Doctor square off against Q. I'd also love a maxi-series where each episode features a different Trek meeting a different Doctor and companions. For some reason I Nine and Deep Space Nine seem like a good fit. Six and Voyager might work well.
*little girl squeal* Er, sorry 'bout that. I'm loving the TOS/LoSH crossover, and I've got high hopes for this one!
Rich Johnston is reporting that the creative team is Scott and David Tipton writing and J.K. Woodward drawing. The title is Assimilation, and it will feature the Borg and the Cybermen teaming up to lay down some smack.
So not Tony Lee. Interesting. Borg/Cybermen are the most logical choice. Will be interesting to see if this gets confirmed.
We've known that Tony Lee wasn't writing it since Friday. He posted a comment at Bleeding Cool that he wasn't, and then he denied it later in the day on Twitter. (He also said that the Doctor Who project he's working on for IDW isn't related to this.)
if its Borg vs new series Cybermen, the Cyberman wont last 5 minutes. Even if the Borg will never be able to use love as a weapon against them
Admittedly, that's just a supposition on my part, based on the way team-ups like this work -- the villains team up forcing the heroes to team up to stop them. Since Bleeding Cool said the crossover would feature the Borg and the Cybermen, then it followed that the Borg and Cybermen would team up to destroy all creation and only the combined forces of the TARDIS and the Enterprise-D could stop them. But it's really just a supposition. It's entirely possible that the Borg and the Cybermen could be at war and the Doctor and Picard get trapped in the middle.
While Borg and Cybermen make the most sense for marketing reasons, I've been busy dreaming up scnarios in which TNG characters are stuck fighting Who aliens. Like if the Weeping Angels showed up, they could disable Geordi's Visor and he'd have no defense against them. Or Worf against a Judoon, and for some reason their universal translators aren't working. Worf: "Daj ba'wi! SosChi gint'ya!" Judoon: "Sco po fo no wo jo bo ko!" Then Worf charges toward the Judoon with a bat'leth.
Or the Enterprise and the Doctor are at war and the poor Borg and Cybermen are in the middle. Or not.
