I was in a hurry packing and threw my suit jacket in my laundry bag. Then when I put my clothes in the wash, I didn't notice that I put my suit jacket in as well (yes, I'm an idiot). Anyway, I realized it halfway through the wash cycle.

I pulled it out and left it flat with some towels in the hopes of taking out some water (I don't want to run it through the dry cycle, obviously). Does anyone know what's going to happen or what I should do?

You might be okay, depending on the material. You'll have to see if it shrunk at all or if the material has been damaged once it's dried. It will probably also lose it's shape a bit.

    What is the fabric?

Leave it laid out flat and change the towels if they become soaked. When it's not dripping, hang it to dry. NO WIRE HANGERS! (;)) When it's dry it will need to be pressed.

    100% wool :(

My mom suggested wearing it to help it keep its shape. It's wet, but not dripping (I think it's going to take quite awhile to dry).

I think it might be ok. Just leave it flat so it doesn't stretch and when you hang it make sure it's not too warm so it doesn't shrink.

If it's damp but not soaked, should I hang it or leave it flat?

FLAT. Don't even THINK of hanging it up until it's completely dry. Wool is far too heavy a material to hang up even when it's just damp.

Probably take it TO a dry cleaner after it dries out and have them give it some TLC for you. I've never run the jacket through by accident, but I have washed suit pants by accident. It wasn't a pretty sight when it happened, but dry cleaning seemed to fix it.

Well, the world hasn't spun off its axis, but I wouldn't tempt fate by removing any tags from your mattress....

Probably want to be drinking an 18 yo Laprhoaig instead of Dewar's White Label. This is not a matter to be dealt with by cheap Scotch.

Maybe I should chuck some wool into the washing machine, I need these kinds of reasons!

You never need an excuse to drink good whiskey.

Crisis (I think) averted. It looks mostly the same. It might have shrunk a bit under the armpits, it's hard to say for sure, but it looks about the same.
