Oops! On all the other forums I go on there's no "=" in the spoiler tag code so I sometimes forget to use it here.
Don't tell that to Lou Grant. He told Mary Richards, "You have spunk. I hate spunk." (Reference is The Mary Tyler Moore Show)
Close, but a funnier line is yet to come: Captain Latimer: Who the devil are you? What are you doing in my house? Doctor: It's okay. I...am your governess' gentleman friend and we've just been upstairs...kissing. Maid: Captain Latimer.... In the garden...the snowmen! They're just growing! Out of nowhere! All by themselves! Look! Door rings Madame Vastra: Good evening. I'm a lizard woman from the dawn of time, and this is my wife. Maid: **shriek** Strax: This dwelling is under attack. Remain clam, human scum. Maid: **shrieks** (and faints) Doctor: So...any questions? Latimer: You have a gentleman friend? THAT is what he got out of all this?! Not the lizard woman, with a wife, or the potato-headed male, or that they're under attack by snowmen...but that the governess he was crushing on has a gentleman friend! Great!
Still think the noogie line was funniest. Speaking of spunk. Yes different countries have different uses for words, see US and UK use of 'fanny' In Australia, if a young girl or guy was thought to be sassy and have sex appeal, she/he was referred to as 'spunky' Take from that what you may.
Hmmm, seems like I'm the only person who thought Voyage of the Damned was great! This years...without the new elements and without Strax, Vastra, Jenny...meh. Last years, for me, is the worst. Loved Christmas Carol, loved the intro of Tennant one...was mixed on The Next Doctor...is that all of them?
THe Christmas Specials are :- The Christmas Invasion The Runaway Bride Voyage of the Damned The Next Doctor The End of Time, Part I A Christmas Carol The Doctor, the Widow and The Wardrobe The Snowmen
I didn't mind The Runaway Bride (Donna's presence is always welcome), and I vaguely remember thinking A Christmas Carol was okay. The rest made little or no (positive) impression. Eh, that doesn't matter. River apparently doesn't exist when she isn't in an episode, so the Doctor can pretty much do what he likes the rest of the time. (That's annoyed me for ages. This episode merely provided yet another instance.)
They have an "arrangement" I'm sure. What with the potential years, decades, centuries, whathaveyou, between meetings.
The villains were rather weak but everything else was really well done. Jenna-Louise Coleman is all kinds of awesome. She's gorgeous and I like how she moves like she's having such a good time and has nice facial expressions. Very good acting there. She and Matt Smith have nice chemistry together. i can't wait to find out what the deal with clara is.
I was being facetious, guys. I was really quite obviously being facetious. On topic, I thought this was a wonderful episode, and I was geared up for the usual forgettably dull affair. Best christmas special since Runaway Bride.
I rewatched the Ruaway Bride on Christmas Eve, it's still one of the best Christmas Specials. I liked that this episode had nothing to do with Christmas.
She also said the TARDIS is big enough for only one psychopath in "The Angels Take Manhattan" when the Doctor asked her to stay.
