RL has had me hearding cats for the last week, so I just caught this. All I can say is Damn. So said. RIP Mallory
Rao...was a little shocked to see this thread....remember mallory's posts were great and he indeed was a fair minded mod. He will be missed.
Rest in peace Mallory. Very saddened by the news. Terrible loss, for all his friends and his family. I will always remember him as a good guy.
I haven't been on much lately, and I don't post much, but this is sad news. He helped me through some personal issues, and for that I am truly grateful. He will be missed terribly. My condolences to his family and friends Godspeed, Mallory.
I'm a bit late to the thread - I'm shocked, but not overly surprised. I'd known he'd been battling cancer for quite a few years, and I always admired his courage (as many have in this thread). I guess it was just a matter of time. He will be greatly missed. My thoughts go out to his family and all his friends, both here and elsewhere. RIP Mallory
Very sad news, indeed. I agree with Davros, the board will, indeed, be less without him. Rest in peace, Mallory.
Shocked and saddened to hear the news of his passing. Like a few other posters, I've not been around much lately so I only read the announcement a few minutes ago. He is a big loss to these boards, and will be sorely missed. Thoughts and heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. Rest in Peace Mallory. BRG
If anyone still wishes to contribute via PayPal, contact me. I'll be sending a card and check out to Mal's family later this week.
Mallory was a wonderful person and I'm truely saddened by this news. Apologies for the late bump but I don't check in here as often as I once did, but I will always remember the good old days when I was more active on TrekBBS and we were all part of the furniture around these parts. Good times.
Might as well throw in my 2 cents. I didn't know him well, But Mallory was a fine mod and a class act all around. I remember talking to him about southern cooking once, and the specifics of a good country fried steak. RIP
Mallory was one of the best individuals I've ever had the privilege of interacting with on this board. RIP, sir.
I debated coming in here on the remember Mallory day and on putting up the avatar. I decided to do the first but not the second. I didn't know Mallory so I thought it'd be tacky if I suddenly started wearing his avatar but I do know that his passing affected a lot of people whom I care for quite a bit on this board and I just wanted to give those folks my best wishes. It's tough to lose a friend.
I thought a thread memorial was nice, but this making avatars in his name, after we just had an emoticon attached to him, seems a bit tacky to me. That, and I know more about the Giants, who just won the world series, than I do about Mallory, who I have the utmost respect for and was saddened by his passing. For that, I'm keeping the SF Giants World Series Celebration theme.
A couple of hours ago I was thinking of a funny exchange I had with Mallory a few years ago on trekbbs, and that brought a smile to my face. So as a result I decided to check trekbbs for the first time in almost a year, and one of the first things I see is the announcement that he passed away. Very ironic, the smile has been replaced with a tear. RIP Mallory.
