Hello and Welcome! We recently completed our line by line of Amok Time Line-by-Line in the TOS forum! After each completed thread, I, or more typically, the originator of these line by lines, CoveTom, will randomly pick someone who participated to choose the next episode we do. The lucky winner this time around was Alienesse! And Alienesse has chosen the "Future's End" two parter as our next line-by-line adventure! For any unfamiliar with our "game," you are asked to post only a single line (defined as one character speaking without interruption by another character) per message. You can post as often as you like, but someone else must post a line in between your posts. As before, at the conclusion of this thread, we will pick someone at random from among all the participants to choose the next episode we do. Enjoy!
Planet Earth, in the high Sierra's, the year 1967. Henry Starling, sits along in the woods, listening to a radio. Radio Voice: Demonstration at UC Santa Cruz Campus last night. Tear gas was used to disperse a crowd of three thousand angry students. The temperature right now in Barstow is 75 degrees... Radio stops working, Starling inspects it, trying to get it to work again. A large object crashes nearby. Starling walks toward it.
On Voyager in the captains ready room, Janeway is practicing her tennis serve. The door chime rings. Janeway: Come in. Tuvok enters as Janeway hits the ball right at him. Tuvok catches it. Janeway: Oh, sorry Tuvok. I was just practicing my serve.
Janeway: Tennis. After 19 years I've decided to take it up again. I'm a little rusty. I played in B'Elanna's tournament on the holodeck. I lost my first match in straight sets.
TUVOK: Perhaps if you maintained eye contact with the ball at the apex of it's trajectory your serve would be more effective.
Janeway: Not as simple as when I played on the high school tennis team. What can I do for you, Tuvok?
KIM: It's a distortion in the space-time continuum, but it's got a graviton matrix. It's being artificially generated.
