Has any one heard if there is gonna be another Star Trek tv series.i am fencing for an another series.
You're fencing for another series? Fencing, as in some sort of black market thing out of the trunk of your car?
That has never been stated. For now, they've been content for JJ to do three movies. No further serious discussion has been reported in the media, but that's not "no plans".
Future of Trek is where any tidbits about a TV series will appear. The odds are heavy against any live action space opera series because of the expense and limited niche audience. On the other side of the column, some high profile individuals like Seth McFarlane and Bob Orci have expressed interest in doing a series. If someone with lots of insider clout champions a series, that's the best way of overcoming the obstacles.
While I don't expect anything for a while, I wouldn't be surprised if there have been some 'informal' chats hinting that maybe after the next movie comes out it may be a good idea to start thinking about starting to think about what might be able to happen if someone maybe came up with an idea that might be worth thinking about. In a round about way.
As others have said, not at the momment. But I'd be more suprised if there wasn't a new show at some pont. Sometimes a rest can be a good thing.
A better question is... should there be one? Sure, sure, I'm itching for new Trek just like everyone else, but is Trek still relevant today? More accurately, can Trek be made relevant while remaining Trek? Are there still new directions to explore? Isn't it time we just let the franchise die? It had its run, you can't really stretch it forever (IMO).
Have we stopped retelling fairytales, like "The Three Little Pigs", fables like "The Hare and the Tortoise", Shakespearean plays, "Zorro", "Tarzan", "Sherlock Holmes", "Superman", "Batman", "Spiderman", "James Bond 007"? Why should "Star Trek" die? It's modern mythology.
Been saying the same thing for years. If it's got a way different vibe, but is shoehorned into a universe with Trek names and terminology, it's better to put new wine in new wineskins, as a famous rabbi said. On the other hand, if it had the same fun, explorey, humane vibe as in much of TOS and TNG, bring it on.
Aaaah, but therein lies my point: nobody is writing new "Shakespearean" plays. Modern tragedies are unlike classical tragedies; the themes reflect their times. Shakespeare's plays are still being (thankfully!) performed, of course, but that's the same as watching old Trek episodes. I think Trek has ran for so long that it's bound to either reiterate itself (ENT already did plenty of that) or go in directions that aren't really in line with Trek's core ethos (and DS9 did plenty of that); at which point, wouldn't it be better to make a new, unrelated, space opera?
We have new, unrelated space operas. And we have new, intricately related Trek. And if Trek goes in directions that "aren't really in line with Trek's core ethos" then we have both in one package.
