The original incarnation of 3-2-1 Contact on PBS (the early eighties) had a great and catchy theme song for a kid's show, and one based around science, learning and discovery to boot...no cheesy animated characters. I still know all the lyrics by heart after more than thirty years. [yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=prWginDJWYM[/yt] Gotta love that late Carter/early Reagan era music and those clothes. Whenever I start to chuckle at them I look at photos of myself and my friends from first or second grade and remember...wow...I looked just as bad or worse. And here's another classic I have etched into my very soul... [yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dddm5bQeKvg[/yt]
Meh, I like the german version of that better, brings back memories. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnJ2113AHPY&playnext=1&list=PL485A427BA93F37B6
My absolute favorite version of the Happy Days theme from Season 3 of the show (1975-76): [yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XNl-J7rj488[/yt] And then there's this: [yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&v=W2ZXjY5rTHg&NR=1[/yt]
I'm 43 years old and just about 6 weeks from becoming 44 years old, and I still smile when I hear this. [yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LXqMzmFSX_4[/yt]
In no particular order. They are all forever stuck in my brain: The Love Boat - "Love, exciting and new. Come aboard. We're expecting yooooouuuu..." Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids - "Hey, Hey, Hey! It's Faaaat Albert!" BJ and the Bear - "Hey there, where you goin'? Not exactly knowin'. Who says you have to call just one place hommmmmeeee...." Diff'rent Strokes - "Now the world don't move to the beat of just one drum. What might be right for you might not be right for some..." Eight is Enough - "There's a magic in the early morning we've found, when The sunrise smiles on everything around..." I could go on. My brain is filled with so much useless information...
Honorable mention: Baa Baa Blacksheep/Blacksheep Squadron - "We are poor little lambs that have lost our way. Baa, Baa, Baa..."
It's really hard for me to limit it to just five. So I have two top 5 lists: one for kids' shows and one for the rest. Top 5 - Kids' shows: 1. Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes 2. Fraggle Rock 3. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1987) 4. Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego 5. Darkwing Duck Top 5 - Everything else: 1. The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson 2. Perfect Strangers 3. Greatest American Hero 4. Friends 5. Psych
1. Firefly 2. Cheers 3. Greatest American Hero 4. The Jeffersons 5. All In the Family I would have said Maude-but that was before Family Guy ruined it for me forever.
Muppet Babies also had a wonderful theme song for a cartoon show. [yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ju75XsCO4o[/yt]
No offense to people who like the song but that made my ears bleed, it's really bad and they used the same song for the first three seasons? The original version had awesome music but I prefer the german adaptations of the songs, I prefer the german singer's voice. Digimon Digimon 02 Digimontamers Digimon Frontier Digimon Savers I like the Tamers Opening best, but they're all pretty good.
This doesn't have any lyrics (so far as I'm aware) but it's funktastic. The first 14 seconds are pretty sweet, as is the whole theme really. [yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=rgC7mejjqlQ&feature=endscreen[/yt]
Far Out Space Nuts by the Kroffts had a pretty sweet opening theme song. The show itself was dumber than Bob Denver's socks but had great music and pretty good effects for a mid-70's Saturday morning kids' program.
Ah, no. Sorry. That honor goes to Underdog. 1. Underdog 2. Beverly Hillbillies 3. The Monkees 4. Firefly 5. Big Bang Theory Honorable mentions: Addams Family Chuck Gilligan's Island It was hard to keep the list this short!
