I got this idea from a similar thread in the General Trek sub-forum. What moments or scenes from novels make you want to stand up and start cheering? Here are some of mine:

    • Captain Clark Terrell stands his ground against an angry solider who's put a gun to his head in an effort to halt planetary elections on Mestiko. Terrell convinces him to think before acting and saves not only his own life but that of countless Mestiko citizens, too (Star Trek: Mere Anarchy - The Darkness Drops Again).
    • Admiral William T. Riker confronts Federation President Ishan Anjar regarding questionable orders to Starfleet ships and troops and makes a speech about the importance of option for diplomacy over belligerence (Star Trek: The Fall - The Poisoned Chalice).

Spock stands up to the Romulan praetor and gets the Unification movement legalized. (Rough Beasts of Empire). About damn time some progress was made!

When Old Riker takes a phaser to the Sindarene dude from the future. "...Not in my reality! Because you picked the wrong focal point!" (Imzadi) and then leaves with the great line: "Besides, who really cares about all this physical touching? Not young Deanna Troi. It's the spiritual that's important...that's forever..."

There's so many to choose from... Here's a few from my list:

    • Bacco threatening to have Spock ejected from her office in Articles of the Federation.
    • Kamemor having herself smuggled to Earth to preserve the peace in Plagues of Night.
    • Picard shuts up Akaar by quoting Kirk, Losing the Peace.
    • Dulmur and Lucsly take the up-time agents to task over their constant meddling in the climax of Watching the Clock.

Spock's appearance before the Federation Council in Prime Directive, especially when he calls out, "Ambassador Sytok!" and what follows. That's my top "F-Yeah, Treklit" moment.

Number two is the reunion of Worf and Nog in The War of the Prophets. It's a quieter moment, but very touching.

Number three is Sisko taking Rom to his quarters on the Defiant for a quiet chat in The 34th Rule.

Number four is John Harriman giving his father a stern talking-to in The Captain's Daughter.

This. Also, in the same book, when Anne Gauvreau lets Kirk known she knows who he really is.

My adds: K't'lk's creation scene in The Wounded Sky; Kirk figuring out how to deal with the Dekanni, both the council & the putzes in the shuttles, in Rules Of Engagement; Spock screaming "VICTORY!" in Time For Yesterday.

(As you can see, I read the older stuff & totally eschew the newer.)

Ishan Anjar being exposed and arrested on the floor of the Federation Council in Peaceable Kingdoms.

Bashir delivering the cure to Andor in A Ceremony of Losses.

Rugal Pa'Daar winning his Federation citizenship in The Never-Ending Sacrifice.

The end of the Borg and the ascension of Hernandez in Destiny: Lost Souls.

Data 2.0 saves the day in Silent Weapons.

Bacco forces Atrin na Yel to resign for imprisoning an innocent man without charge or trial in Articles of the Federation.

This gave me more of a warm fuzzy feeling

Same with the bits in Federation where Cochrane explains the starfleet/energy delta to Thornsen, or where the Enterprises complete the "prisoners dilemma" maneuvere.

Sulu's out-maneuvering of the Klingons in The Wounded Sky - especially the part where the Klingons contact the Enterprise and advise them to "kill our helmsman and send him before us, so the Black Fleet will know whom to expect."

Also, Lwaxana Troi giving Q a taste of his own medicine in Q-in-Law.

    • The Enterprise blowing through the Romulan ship at the finish line in "The Great Starship Race".
    • Jimmy Kirk punching Roy Moss in "Best Destiny". per-cussion!
    • Picard sending a standard ship's hail to the original Enterprise at the end of "Federation".
    • The Repulse using the main delector dish tactic from the BoBW cliffhanger and this time it works from "Vendetta".

The only ones I can think of right away are the end of the Borg in Destiny, and when the scene in Quarks in Unity where the parasite tries to take over Taran'atar and he just bites it.

All these great actions moments, but for me....

Unity, with Kasidy in pains and emotions of childbirth, with so many things going on, and when things settle a bit and she opens her eyes.... her husband, gone for so long, standing there holding Rebecca..... Wow.

This thread is giving me some good ideas of books to read. First off is My Enemy My Ally which has a scene that always makes me cheer, but it's been so long since I last read it I can't remember the scene properly to describe it
