My signature outlines my "grades" for the Summer movies. I agree many of them may seem generous but I'm pretty forgiving in my grading scale which is something only I can understand. To put it one way, a movie has to be pretty damn disapointing and medicore to get a "C" in my grading, let alone a D or an F. Shit, I think I gave Transformers a C or C-. There's still a few "big" Summer movies yet to come around: Hellboy 2, Journey to the Center of the Earth, The Dark Knight, X-Files, The Mummy 3, Tropic Thunder just to name a few off the top my head that are going to be the "bigger" movies of this season. But how do you think it is going? So far I think it's been a pretty damn good movie season. Almost completely 100% winners. Haven't had a disapointment yet in the theater this Summer. So how is it going for you?
A- ... Iron Man B ..... Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull B ..... Get Smart B ..... The Incredible Hulk
Pretty decent. I've only been interested in a few films. Iron Man - A Indy Jones - B I'm seeing Dark Knight next week, and then Clone Wars, and then Mummy.
I've seen 6 of them so far and that would be Indy,Hulk,Iron Man,Speed Racer,Sarah Marshall and Hancock and liked them all though Hulk is the worst of the lot. I felt Indy had the best action scenes,Iron Man had the best character in Tony Stark and Hancock actually had the best humor. Jason
I haven't seen them all, but it HAS been an unusually good year for movies. On my scale, a 'C' makes me happy. WALL E / A+ Iron Man / A- Kung Fu Panda / B+ Indy's Skull / B-
Movies I enjoyed but don't think of as really great: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, The Incredible Hulk, Get Smart. Why? These movies were the usual formulaic summer fare that in my opinion got by because they were part of franchises that are popular or well known. Though I had a good time, I don't feel that these movies by themselves they are anything spectacular or groundbreaking. Movies I liked the most: Iron Man, The Happening, Wanted, Hancock. Why? Iron Man was great fantasy fulfillment and the rest were different from your usual summer fare. Movies I enjoyed but don't consider summer favorites: Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay, Sex and the City. Why? No reason in particular. They just didn't quite make the "movies I liked the most" cut. Is Harold and Kumar even a summer movie? Who cares. I'm putting it in anyway. I saw it a week before Iron Man. Movies I plan to see: The Dark Knight, The X-Files: I Want to Believe, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and possibly one or two others.
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull / B+ Iron Man / A Get Smart / A- I still have yet to see Hancock, The Dark Knight, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, The X-Files and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor
Pretty darn awesome actually, way better than last year. There's been a movie comming out that I wanted to see almost weekly fof the past month or two. The Greats: Iron Man The Incredible Hulk The Good: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Speed Racer Wanted The Bad: (Surprisingly nothing yet) 007: Quantum of Solace The Stuff I Still Want To See: The Dark Knight Hancock Hellboy II: The Golden Army The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor Star Wars: Clone Wars Wall-E X-Files 2: I Want to Believe
Wall-E .......................... A+ Iron Man ....................... A Indy 4 ........................... A- Hulk .............................. B Get Smart ...................... B Wanted .......................... B- This weekend Journey to the Center of the Earth
I've become really cynical this summer movie season in that I've only seen 3 movies and anxiously waiting for the last movie I might see this summer, The Dark Knight. Sorry but I can't even bring myself to see some of the movies that have come out because the trailers just don't look interesting, and I think Hancock and Incredible Hulk were the best examples. Nothing really stood out and I've been kind of watching more movies on DVD than in the theater. Based on the only three movies I've seen so far: Iron Man - A Wall-E - A+ (My favorite movie of the summer) Indiana Jones - C- (The biggest disappointment so far for me)
Pretty good movie season so far. In order of viewing. Iron Man: A Prince Caspian: B- Indiana Jones: B+ The Incredible Hulk: B+ Get Smart: B Wanted: C Wall*E: B Journey to Center of Earth: B+ Obviously my least favorite has been Wanted. Yes, I liked Journey to the Center of the Earth over Wall*E. It has actual dialoge and engaging characters for the whole movie and is much more a general audience movie, aka adults, than Wall*E and his beeps, whirls and hums. The only summer movies I've had interest in but have yet to catch are Kung Fu Panda and The Happening. Remaining on my list are Hellboy 2: The Golden Army(seeing it tonight actually), The Dark Knight, X-Files 2, The Rocker and Mummy 3. Passively I have interest in Pineapple Express, Tropic Thunder and SW:Clone Wars. Meaning if I obtain a free pass I'm there. I turned down free passes for Meet Dave for example...ZERO interest.
Iron Man A Doomsday B- What Happens in Vagas C Indiana Jones B+ Hulk B The Happening F Super Hero Movie D Teeth B- Prince Caspian B Wanted B- Hancock B+
I'm weird. The only one I've seen so far is The Fall, which I loved. But I'll go see Wall-E soon, just to be more normal.
So far, this has not been a great year for movies. Iron Man: 3.5 stars Prince Caspian: 3 stars Indiana Jones: 2.5 stars Wall-E: 4.5 stars The rest have not even interested me enough to go see in theaters. For the remainder of the year, I've only got Dark Knight, Clone Wars, Quantum of Solace, Bolt, Half Blood Prince, and the Mexican Little League team in America movie to look forward to. Depending how those turn out, this may be an average year for movies, but certainly not stellar like 1999-2005.
Sporadic. Been watching plenty of movies at the theatres (rather enjoyed Mongol, looking forward to My Winnipeg and La Antena), but not much yet of the summer fare. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was a good, solid adventure film, if a little unremarkable and tired. Looking forward to Wall-E, Hellboy II, and The Dark Knight. Will probably drag myself to Clone Wars. None of the other films interested me.
