How the hell is anyone being rude? I don't know what thread you've been reading but I have seen nothing but friendly suggestions in this thread.
They're not, I was being sarcastic. The non-gamer wandering into a gaming forum and asking for game advice usually draws hostility, so I was simply wondering where it was.
Nah, who could be rude to the dancing banana?? darthraidr, thanks for the link. The LOTR one looks intriguing, as does Champions of Norrath. Have any of you played either of those? Or others from that link? Recommendations?
i played a bit of LotR. it was fun. I haven't played Champions of Norrath, but i have played the 2 Baldur's Gateark Alliance games and Hunter:The Reckoning... i'll be honest with you, that style of game, the RPG hack and slash, is one of my favorites. they are simple fun, and made even more fun with more people playing. a couple games that weren't on that list but are similar (and i've played co-op and enjoyed): Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows http://ps2.ign.com/articles/675/675582p1.html X-Men Legends http://ps2.ign.com/articles/549/549704p1.html X-Men Legends 2 http://ps2.ign.com/articles/652/652746p1.html Marvel: Ultimate Alliance http://ps2.ign.com/articles/741/741698p1.html similar games on the PC exist: Titan Quest http://pc.ign.com/articles/714/714552p1.html and if you don't mind your games looking very dated there is Diablo 2 http://pc.ign.com/articles/160/160629p1.html i am really looking forward to Diablo 3
I'm looking at reviews for Champions of Norrath, and for a non-gamer like me, this sentence is very frustrating: source: http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/rpg/championsofnorrath/review.html?page=2 Does that mean that it is a split-screen? You take turns? How do I know what I would expect? Help me, O TrekBBS Gamers!
don't fret... in those games everyone plays at the same time and is confined to one screen. the "problem" comes when one person wants to go North off-screen, and one wants to go South off-screen. the camera won't move because it needs to keep you both on screen... it's not a big problem. here's a very grainy video showing off co-op: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jfYw0L_fUGU
darthraidr, thanks for both the info and the video link (why didn't I think of youtube @ self) you've been very helpful! I think I am going to go with Champions of Norrath - it looks like a lot of fun, and I know Mr. kia enjoys Baldur's Gate, which this seems to be compared to.
If you've got no qualms about using a SNES emulator (it's still technically PC ) I'd recommend Secret of Mana. Fantastic action/RPG that supports up to 3 players and will keep you going for a while. Other than that I'd say Diablo 1 or 2 are great for single or co-op play.
