DC's New 52: Reviews and Discussion (Spoilers welcolme and likely)

Here's a look at the New 52 Superman and Flash action figures that are coming out with the "All Star" wave 2 from Matty. I seriously might get the Superman. Dark Supergirl looks pretty awesome and Red Robin I dunno. I think they made Tim look too old and bulky.

Red Robin looks more like the Kingdom Come 25+ years later version.

Or, I suppose, it could be Jason Todd from COUNTDOWN.

 

It is Tim though. This figure has been much anticipated by fans. I just wish they made him more like his likeness from the books. He's supposed to be around 17. He looks like he's in his late 20's or early 30's in that pic lol.

 

That's because they've very clearly reused a Batman head for Red Robin, but chopped the ears off. Mattel pulls this crap all the time.

 

Excellent Point. I didn't think about that.

 

I personally would've expected Red Robin to be wearing a bar apron and 13 pieces of flair.

 

Nice to see Mattel is already going to be releasing New 52 characters. I love this line and have been collecting the Superman-related characters. Supergirl is a repaint, so I'll pass on her, but I'm eying the Superman (and maybe the Flash).

Not sure if I like this one more than the other line of New 52 figures. I'll wait and see until they are both released to see which one looks better.

 

Not so obvious Red Robin restaurant joke?

The Batman and Wonder Woman figures shown at SDCC were admittedly magnificent looking. I'll be picking the two of them up for sure. I posted a link somewhere earlier in the thread if any one wants to sift back through it.

 

Oh, I saw them. They do look good, but they were also prototypes. The released figure might end up looking different from the prototype. I do want one, but until I see it in the store, I'll decide which one to get.

 

Oh yeah...for prototypes though I was impressed.

The Daemonite Lord Helspont is appearing in Superman #8. This has been teased in some books. Not being much of a Wildstorm fan outside of the Authority I don't know how much of a big deal this is, or if it is one at all.

I still await the announcement of Crisis on the New 52! summer crossover that'll not only tie into all the 52 series, but also launch 52 more new ones! Am I cynical? Yes! Am I wrong? Probably not that much.

 

^ You're probably not far off actually. Unless these Watchmen prequels...errrr rumoured prequels are their huge 2012 event. It's very possible we'll see the first New 52 Verse major crossover (ugh even I'm hesitant about that) and the next wave. I expect cancellation news in the next couple of months...unless they REALLY wanna try to keep all 52 books afloat. I also have a theory that Purple Lady will feature heavily in any kind of major crossover.

 

This I can take. Even line wide x-overs like Batman, I can handle, but I really fear for the day where we have to go through an Infinite Crisis type event again with half a year of build up and then another half a year telling us about the new status quo.

I hope that we can hold off on those for at least a few years.
