Is there a way to discuss this without all that profanity?

Which doesn't change the fact that Khan Noonien Singh, Sikh warrior probably from Northern India was Mexican to begin with. :techman:

    No one does.

It seems that once you "unfreeze" an augment he/she eventually turns more white.

    That's the common thread.

Could it be he had a dark tan in the series and never had a dark tan when the movie was made?

Amazing how star trek fans put on this face of being so intelligent and talk like it but fail so miserably in choosing descriptive words in the English language to use in place of profanity, especially in a public forum. Using profanity doesn't make one look or sound smart or intelligent, it just shows how limited their knowledge is of the English language.

I know the English language quite well, thanks. But sometimes the only answer to the inanity that some posters spew is a good old-fashioned "FUUUCCCCCKKKKK". :techman:

Let's not go there, shall we?

    Or there.

    Or there. Just stop.

No. If you see that language as being a problem, then what you should do is to open a thread in QS&F for the purpose of discussing board policy concerning that topic.

    Edit:

Again, raise the language question in the appropriate venue, which is not this one. And a swipe aimed at fan groups like yours quoted above is poor form (but I'm pretty sure you already knew that); please don't do it again.

I said it's not against the rules to insult celebrities. However, if a mod politely asks you to please stop a frequent behavior of yours (constantly calling them cunts and twats) because it creates a hostile posting environment, and you refuse to follow that request, that could certainly constitute grounds for an infraction. Not this time, though.

    However...

This gets you an infraction for trolling.

This earns you an infraction for flaming.

Bill, the Holocaust comment he made was way out of line, but resorting to even making oblique threats is not the answer. Plus, you also provoked the situation a bit with the previous comment. Please don't do that again.

    Infraction for other.

[edit] Sorry to step on your toes, M'Sharak, I was typing up everything and handling the infractions before you made your post.

Is it just me or does Cumberbatch have a extremely close resemblance to Montalban?

I pointed that out a while back, when someone ran side by side pictures.

Ahem - AVID fan of the original Star Trek (saw the 3rd season first run on NBC in 1969) - not 'driven away' in the slightest, thank you.

    Loved STID too.

Edited to add: Oh, BTW - if you're including TNG in the scope of 'original Star Trek' - don't, as there was very little original about TNG. 'Original' Star Trek IS the 1966-1969 'Star Trek' series.

This old TOSer is a fan of the new films too, TYVM.

... Hmmm, that doesn't sound too good...

And you hit on the problem with fandom:

    - My god, they threw away canon---sure 90% of we think is canon isn't and comes from books most people have read--but they threw out canon! Trek is ruined forever!

    - Unoriginal hacks, all they're doing is writing fanwank and keep rehashing the old stuff. Trek is ruined forever!

Can't win with fans. Give what they want, you're an unoriginal hack; try something new and you're ignoring canon.

I'll admit it, I chuckled at that scene in '09. It was just a subtle enough call back to TWOK to cap the whole scene.

Pretty much. Except you've got better odds with the Kobayashi Maru.
