For the most part I've really enjoyed David Mack. In fact I find it a bit odd that I'm asking this but I've actually heard/read some mixed reactions to this book. Without spoiling it can you guys let me know if it's up there with Mack's usual high quality trek lit?
Agreed. I'm rereading Vanguard now because the books are just that good. Precipice is actually superb. 11/10 in fact.
As long as the books underneath it have a good foundation and the tower isn't too high, then yes. Precipice stacks up fine.
I did not think it was a catastrophe at all. ZSG was top notch and the development of the Breen was really interesting in my opinion.
Of all the things I've read from David Mack, ZSG was the only one that didn't fully do it for me. The Breen were very well done, one of the more interesting aliens I've seen in Trek, and the plot itself was very nice. My only real problem was that Bashir didn't feel like Bashir to me and that Sarina was a bit of a flat character.
^ Agree completely. Admittedly, I probably would've liked it more if it didn't have David Mack's name on the cover; after Wildfire, Vanguard, Destiny, and Sorrows of Empire, I have some pretty high expectations for the man.
