Hello everyone. I don't get on the BBS as much as I should so I haven't been to this thread before. I'm with Starbase Studios in Oklahoma City.

First let me say it was an honor having the Yorktown cast and crew film here. We are proud to be a small part of this historic fan film.

Maurice, I assume you are referring to the larger "double' displays on weapons and defense. There are two reasons why they're missing on our ship. One, we didn't know where to get a monitor of efficient size that would fit the space. Two, these station were part of the ones salvaged from Starship Exeter. We used the cutouts just as they used them, we would have had to do a lot or extra construction to redo them. The graphics are the same but divided between the two separate monitors. We do hope to find a way to add those displays in the future.

MikeH92467, this is the same sets that Ajax started with but we are now a separate entity from Ajax. Starbase Studios is now a fan film studio open to anybody who wishes to produce their own Star Trek TOS fan film. We are not producing any of the films ourselves but trying to clear the way for others to be able to produce theirs without the expense of building sets. We work on donations only, there is no charge for use the studio.

I'm way overdue to start a studio thread, I need to get on that. Website, forum, Facebook.

Thank you again to the cast and crew of the Yorktown. Can't wait til the show is released.

I don't think they're the same. There were very specific eye level displays made for the Weapons & Defense station (which was swapped around to be the engineering station), such as the phaser power panel, etc., as in this photo:

I see what you mean. We didn't use any of the Exeter's custom displays but instead went with the skillfully recreated graphics from TOS Graphics.com.

Is that an actual frame or a BTS photo?

A frame I took from the initial test footage, from when we were testing the camera and lighting on set.

Has any thought been given to the time frame "A Time To Heal" will be taking place in?

Are we to conjecture that this episode is set a few years down the road from the current crop of fan films (a la closer to the movie era) ?

I think the timeframe's that's always been clear enough, since the refit Yorktown is a testbed for some TMP refit features and the uniforms have some rank details similar to the TMP ones (even though I think the TWOK type shoulder strap looks silly here), and Sulu appears to be a Lt. Cdr.

Yeah, that's about what I'd figured. I just couldn't recall if it had ever been discussed here or not.

Just cuz I'm a greedy little bugger (more, more, more!!), is there any news on the status of this film? John's been a bit too quiet over the last few months ...

Just posted some new hand phaser shots over at the Facebook page this week that Neo FX did for us. We've been busy doing ADR work over the past few weeks. We have one or two pick up shots that we need to get filmed over the summer - one of an officer reporting back to the ship, and one of an Admiral doing a briefing that will be shot in LA. Something new that should excite fans of the Star Trek Vanguard novels: Tobias Richter is letting us use his amazing Vanguard model in the film as Admiral Nogura's space station.

Haha... well I never had any doubts that Exeter would get finished first ;)

As for Yorktown, we are getting there. ST: Renegades has our VFX guys a bit tied up at the moment, but I'm still hopeful that we will have this film finished by early 2015.

I have always used Yorktown as proof to discouraged fan filmmakers who say they don't know when, if ever, they can find the time and money to finish their films... that it's never too late. So, I'm counting on you to finish this... whenever you do.

Captain Atkin, that sounds great. Do you guys have a projected release date once the pickups are complete?

The scenes that need to be filmed will be shot at the end of Summer and early Fall to match the outside footage from the 80s. In total, it is about 4 minutes of footage, so not a whole lot has to be filmed. VFX are what will take some time. Our goal is that this will be ready to be shown by Spring of 2015.
