According to Robert Greenberger on Twitter Josepha Sherman, co-author of the "Vulcan's ..." novels, has passed away. RIP
That's spooky - I'm reading Vulcan's Heart at the moment. I've not been a fan of her other Vulcan books - the trilogy was certainly a slog, but I'm quite enjoying this one. RIP Josepha.
I just saw this on David Mack's Facebook. Very sad news and a terrible loss. I've only read a couple of her books but I loved them. Rest peace, Josepha.
One of my favorites, this is sad sad news. In her honor I'm going to read Vulcan's Heart this weekend, my favorite book of the Sherman\Schwartz duo.
I'm very sorry to hear about this. I haven't gotten a chance to read any of her and Susan Shwartz books yet, but they are on my list.
Very sad to hear it. Jo was more than just a colleague. She was a friend of twenty-five years, whom I first met at an convention way back in 1987. She will be missed.
Sad to learn about Josepha's passing. I always considered the 'Vulcan' series to have a unique insight into Spock's character.
Im getting closer in my reading list to the Vulcan's Noun books, and can't wait. May she rest in peace.
As Greg said, Jo was a friend as well as a colleague. I was privileged to work with her several times -- we co-edited the Urban Nightmares anthology in 1997, and I was the editor of two of her Trek short stories and the Vulcan's Soul trilogy -- but I was more privileged to be her friend. Dementia took away the last several years of her life, sadly, and in a lot of ways we lost her long before her body finally gave up on Thursday night. Hey, Greg, remember that small Xena convention in midtown that you, me, TerriO, and Jo were at a bunch of years back? That was a fun weekend...
I remember it well! Among many other accomplishments, Jo also wrote a licensed XENA book: "Everything I Know I Learned from Xena, Warrior Princess." I believe she also sold a short story told from the POV of Xena's horse! More memories: I first met Jo at a Disclave in '87. At the time, I was new to the East Coast, barely knew anyone at the con, and felt very much out of place. Jo was very welcoming and made a real effort to include me in the festivities. I always appreciated that. Over the last few days, I've heard similar stories from many other people whom Jo took under her wing.
