I felt like it was a much-needed message this Fourth of July. Plus...I couldn't resist having a Cardassian say "DONT TREAD ON ME"!!! (Edited to add: Yes, I know I left out the apostrophe. Google "Gadsden Flag" and you'll see why.)
"Don't Tread on Me" was a phrase that appeared on one of the very first flags used by the American colonists during the Revolutionary War. It is also gaining a lot of use again in modern day as a conservative/libertarian protest symbol. Here is a link to the history of the Gadsden Flag, with an image...which will also give you an idea why I would associate the phrase with a Cardassian. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gadsden_Flag
Appropriate. By the way, I suppose now's a good time to say, to all you Americans posting here, happy Independence Day!
Kinda on topic, Cliff Nielsen did the Avatar and MG covers, as well as the one for the new Titan book (Titan? The one with the water planet) and the Troublesome minds one, according to the official mgmt site. Cool...
OK...I just e-mailed Sparth to see if he'll provide any info on print sales. I'll let you guys know if I get anything!
Nielsen's stuff is awsome. When I found out that (some) MB pages listed the cover artists, I discovered that alot of my favorites were by Nielsen.
Which ones were his? I've seen several types of covers for the Young Wizards series depending on what edition you get. Mind posting an example?
Covers seem bland, except for Synthesis. I agree with whoever said it had a bit of the Harlequin about it, but it's very dynamic and shiny. Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman
The most recent set but one-- not the current editions with the big heads, but before that. The Young Wizards website highlights his covers: http://www.youngwizards.com/So-You-Want-To-Be-A-Wizard-Mass-Market-Edition
By the way, I was looking through the catalog and I saw the original cover for Unworthy and I have to say I like that one then the current one. In fact, I prefer that one. Why they din't use that one and went with the same cover as FC is beyond me.
Never seen those, as for his New Jedi Order cover's he did, I loved them - did he just do the hardbacks for the series?
It's always an exciting time when the covers (or previously unknown info) on upcoming books are released. It all looks exciting, and I look forward to having them on my shelf. Now I just have to catch up with my reading between now and then...
