I think the worst job would have to be a medical lab tech and dealing with alien diseases that make Ebola look like the common cold.
I was waiting for the "Any ship Ro Laren is assigned to" comment, but clearly I was the only one thinking that.
Nice thing about studying alien diseases is that they shouldn't generally work on species that aren't from that planet. Bad thing about studying alien diseases is that the above aren't interesting, so of course you're going to be working with the more universal ones
Best assignment during Dominion War: Ships with Plot Shields (Defiant and Enterprise) Worst assignment during Dominion War: Anything else.
I think the crap end of the galaxy would have to be an assignment like the communications relay in Aquiel. It's only manned by a couple of people, your shipmate is probably annoying and whiny and if anything interesting happens, it's probably bad.
+1 Amen to that! "Space is disease and danger wrapped in darkness and silence." - Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy
You kinda feel bad for those people... yeah you're going up against a Jem'Hadar fleet with top of the line vessels... oh you'll be in a hundred year old Miranda class. Good luck!
Worst Position: Security officer aboard the NCC-1701 of course! Best Position: Would vary from person to person. I've long thought that being a bridge officer aboard one of the smaller, zippier ships like an Intrepid class would be cool. Or some cushy position aboard a starbase or something.
LOL!! You would have had to do something quite bad to get stuck with that assignment, or just had bad grades at the academy.
Worse yet. Watch any of the battles and see how phasers can slice through seemingly undamaged Birds of Prey and Mirandas like if they were made of tissue paper. Defiant? Psh, it has a console explode and maybe some lighting issues on the bridge.
Worst job in Starfleet, Captain J.T. Estabans' yeoman on the USS Grissom. That or the ambassador to the Tholian home world... those bulky thermal body suits have got to be itchy and the food is always too hot!
And a lot of those civilians are like Kara Carpenter and her friend T'Ling of the fan show Star Trek Aurora, who are very good at what they do.
Transporter operator on Old City Station, the "hind end of space"? Ambassador in Nimbus 3?In that Q episode when Picard was a junior officer, he looked pretty pissed too. But as it was said above, the worse job on the Enterprise is holodeck janitor: article about it
