That would have been logical. But then they couldn't have rode the wrath of khan train.

Force him how? Spock's immune to torture and even the Klingon mind sifter.

Why would Marcus or Section 31 know that? And why would that deter them from trying?

Do they even know Prime Spock exists?

He's living with the Vulcans and making transmissions in front of the entire bridge crew of the Enterprise. Not to mention nero's rampage through Federation space blaming future spock and all that jazz. Unless they're leaving a hell of a lot out of their reports to starfleet, which Spock has clearly shown he's incapable of doing, they know.

But do they know that old Vulcan is from the future?

Would they even believe it if they did know? This was a problem I had with ST09. Scott meets Kirk and SpockPrime for the first time and is told he hasn't invented transparent aluminum yet. His next question is immediately "Are you from the future?" when it would most likely be "What are you talking about?"

I think that's exactly what Scott meant when he said "Are you from the future?"

He does seem to do a "What the--" reaction for a moment, so maybe he thinks fast enough he can just cut to the chase.

Hard to say... but I tend to fall into the "you're pulling my leg" camp. I don't think Scotty is a believer until he sees his formula.

^ Well, I did say I had problems with ST09. So many problems in fact, I don't even know what I'm talking about anymore.

Spock Prime should just show Starfleet all the Star Trek DVDs and then he wouldn't have to explain anything....

Old Spock should probably break his oath just enough to warn Jim to stay away from rickety old bridges.

(he'd have a coronary if he saw the new Enterprise's plaza and all it's bridges across that massive shaft! Jim won't even have to leave the ship for destiny to catch up with him!)

Why did this film need to bring in Leonard Nimoy to tell the audience that the bad guy is in fact a bad guy?

I thought that was covered by the whole destroying Vulcan thing ( not to mention Robau, the Fed fleet, et cetera ).

He should tell Kelso to stay away from power cables as well. They sometimes have a way of jumping up and asphyxiating people.

In one of the Shatner MU books, Captain Bateson from "Cause and Effect" mentions a whole society/support group for time-displaced individuals. :rommie:
