Feels like it's taken forever. In fact it has been with the 2 years it took to air this series. http://doctorwhotv.co.uk/series-7-soundtrack-coming-soon-50345.htm
I have been looking forward to this. Apparently they were waiting on some "issues" that needed to be ironed out before they announced it. No idea what those were. Can't wait for a tracking listing and happy that it will be a double disc.
I like to imagine that Matt Smith is about to start swinging that sonic about and conducting the Daleks in a rousing performance of "The Dark and Endless Dalek Night." Looking forward to this. I remember liking the scores to "A Town Called Mercy" and "The Trouble with Angels" especially.
Ditto. I'm never really interested in the soundtracks as a whole, though. I only snag from iTunes the occasional track that really interests me. And in this case, I'm really hoping for an extended version of the new theme (I need me some middle-8!).
Looking forward to the music that played as Amy and Rory fell from the building, and also the music that played as Amy let the Angel send her back in time. That's all I really want from this soundtrack.
Just an outstanding selection of music, and I think this is the most New Who music we've had to date. 37 tracks on each one plus the two bonus tracks from iTunes. No selections from "The Snowmen" but that's okay. This is still exciting. Can't wait for Sep 9th.
None from "The Snowmen" or "The Doctor, The Widow and the Wardrobe". I wonder if there'll be a separate release for those two.
Was there seriously that many new tunes throughout season 7? I know there was some new stuff. A Town Called Mercy was almost exclusively new music. Amy and Rory had a new theme that can be heard throughout the season most notably in the rooftop scene in The Angels Take Manhattan. There was a new variation of I am the Doctor in The Bells of St. John. But still, I would not have thought there were 74 new pieces of music from the season.
Murray apparently wrote a ton of new music for series seven...and just imagine, the above track listings are just what made the cut!! Apparently we will be getting a double disc for the 50th Anniversary episode...so that's even more new music. Not sure about the Christmas special...so far nothing from Silva on that front.
Oh hell, the Christmas special's almost guaranteed to have a soundtrack release. After all, it'll have what will be sure to be a show-stopping over the top tune for the regeneration scene.
This year's special will most probably get a release, I was referring to "The Snowmen" and "The Doctor, The Widow, and the Wardrobe". Also, Murray apparently oversaw the compilation of the series seven soundtrack. I'm not sure if he's done so in the past. Fans were encouraged to tweet their personal favourites earlier in the year.
I am pretty sure he always does. He took Twitter suggestions for Series 6 (not sure about 5), and his notes in the albums seem to indicate he's behind the compilations, even though his assistant (whose name I forget) often does a lot of the legwork.
Downloaded this morning. As predicted my favourite tracks so far are "Together or Not at all", and "Goodbye Pond", but "To Save The Doctor" is rather fabulous as well. I haven't listened to it all yet properly.
This is probably my favourite score of Murray's since series three. Just so many great tracks (including the ones mentioned above). I'm really looking forward to what he has put together for the 50th Anny episode (which has been mentioned or suggested by Silva that it will be a double disc release).
I just checked iTunes and it's not there. Do pre-orderers get access to new releases first? ETA: I just checked and it turns out it won't even be released here in the US until November 5 (at least according to Wikipedia). November, really?
