    Hey guys

Coming to the end of my University course in animation, I'm required to submit a showreel. Unfortunately for the Uni/me, a lot of my "best" work has been done in my spare time creating Star Trek ships which have nagging legal issues when your using copyrighted designs when looking for work, so at the last minute I had to cobble together an original, Non Trek-Trekish design that I could do all the fancy trek effects with (Warp, phasers etc) yet not get sued by anyone for (Yes, I know the likelyhood of that happening is very slim, but it has to be eligable for use by the Uni, and of course they dont want to get into a pissing contest with Paramount CBS).

Anyways, I thought you might like to see the design I came up with. Its *very* rough with a small poly count, but It had to be built in a few days, so considering I went from idea to "finishedish" product in that time Im quite happy with the result. Once this course is over with I may come back to this and give it a proper build, but for now, this is all I got.

If it's just your personal portfolio to show, then there isn't a legal issue really any more than if I drew Optimus Prime as an example of artwork. It's original work, so it's not a copyright issue, and you're not using it as a trade piece for redistribution so that shouldn't be an issue either.

But posting "Paramount, please don't sue me" tends to get the opposite attention from what you want. :)

I really like that design...I've been trying different configs for years, never with much to show...you've very nicely connected the nacelles to the primary saucer, with a sleek overall shape...love to see this design fleshed out more...

    Hm...makes sense...

And yeah, This is a personal showreel - but it will be on display at a University run show. I know its silly to expect that kind of thing, but the University have been really adamant about not having any Enterprises on screen - Although they haven't raised any issues with Serenity :p

Nifty. It has an Oberth Class feel to it.
