My favorite part of his "Nemesis" review:

^^ Oh my yes, Roger Ebert! The whole "Shields down to 48%" thing became such an overused line especially on VGR and patently ridiculous in ENT when their "hull plating" was down so-and-so many percent. But then again, maybe I misunderstood what hull plating was or did... Oh well...

Just heard on the radio KNX 1070 in Los Angeles, Star Trek premiere is causing major traffic delays in the Hollywood area. The streets are closed on Hollywood Blvd between La Brea and Highland Ave.

I actually heard a blurb on the 10:00 pm ABC Radio News talking about the film opening next week. It didn't mention the premiere, but it was very optimistic and enthusiastic and played brief snippets of audio from the film, including a bit from Chris Pine...

I better order my tickets tomorrow. Fandango didn't have them for any theaters near me, so I better call our local Danbarry in the morning, or I may not get in to see the movie opening night!

To be fair that was not just a criticism of Nemesis he made but of all 10 movies.

As some of you know I worked on the TV shows for a number of years and also on 3 of the features. For full disclosure I did work on this one. I am also a long time fan of Trek. This movie almost moved me to tears. It was like watching a friend who you knew was dying a slow death come back to life. Not just alive but living. Oh I have my squacks about small things but thats like saying my back to life friend has a cowlick. Thank you JJ, Bob, Alex and Marc. We are in your debt.

^welcome to the board, it's nice to hear this from you :)

and yes I agree about the emotional impact. I too was moved to tears when I watched the free screening last week in DC. and in the next few weeks I'll be going again and again with various people in my life.

Ditto, and that one such incident was not long after the opening scene, with characters we've never met before, is even more amazing. :techman:

Saw it today in KC, and I loved it. A few minor quibbles with elements of the plot, but nothing I can't live with.

Looking forward to seeing it again. :techman:
