Bill Nighy to appear in Harry Potter

Loved his performance in Love Actually.

I would guess he's playing Luna's dad.

 

The Leaky Cauldron has claimed that Nighy will play Rufus Scrimgeour. Rhys Ifans will play Luna's dad. None of this is officially confirmed, but I doubt The Leaky Cauldron would report it if they weren't sure.

 

The director said he was lobbying to put Bill Nighy (who he worked with before) in as Scrimgeour in #6, so I fully expect that's who he's playing for #7.

 

Is Scrimgeour not in HBP at all then?

 

According to wikipedia, he is not in the 6th movie.

That's Bill Nye I believe Bill Nighy is the creepy-awesome British actor from Underworld and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and he was Davey Jones in the Pirates sequels.

 

I bet he's playing Rufus Scrimgeour because Nighy mentioned in previous interviews that he would like to play that character.

 

Nighy was freakingly awesome as a calamari.

 

That's awesome. When I was reading the books I imaged Nighy as Scrimgeour.

 

I imagined Brian Cox but Nighy is still a terrific actor and should be a worthy addition to the franchise, which graciously has nearly employed almost every working British actor so far.

 

Scrimgeour is going to be in the last film, but not the upcoming one. But my bet is Luna's dad, from reading the books I think he would be a perfect cast for that role.

 

They already cast Rhys Ifans as Luna's Dad.

 

I pictured Liam Neeson, myself.

 

One of my favorite actors. I especially love the few times he gets to play the lead (Girl in the Cafe, Gideon's Daughter). I still think he should have gotten an Oscar nomination for Love, Actually.

Glad he's finally getting to appear in a Harry Potter film. I might just have to go see that one.

 

You lot haven't seen Bill Nighy until you've seen him in 'Still Crazy'. Anyone who's ever had anything to do with music, especially rock bands will find it very apt.
As for everyone else...well it has the bloke who plays the rat in Harry Potter as the drummer....and Billy Connolly.

 

Still Crazy is awesome. Another phenomenal performance on his part.

Nighy confirmed that he is indeed playing Scrimgeour during an interview with CBCC Newsround, according to an article posted on Mugglenet.

 

Great choice He is a brilliant actor.
