I've not read the books I got yet but did drop Animal Man today.
He's a character I've given a solid 20 issues to(including the #0) and I stayed this long mostly cause of the ties with Swamp Thing. I honestly might've kept chugging along but the new art team for issue #20 is horrid imo, so that made a "maybe keep buying" into a solid drop with this being the start of a new arc.

Also, for anyone curious about, but never tried, the Valiant relaunch from last summer they are releasing those books as $1 books this week. Try all 5 for $5: XO Manowar, Harbinger, Shadowman, Archer&Armstrong and Bloodshot.

In the lap of squalor I assure you.
I like Animal man but it's a difficult read (I'm ten issues behind you) and I can't find the drive to pick up an issue and start reading anywhere.

This is what I want from an Animal Man comic...

    "Hey Starfire, wanna do it?"

    "Arn't you still married?"

    "Probably. I don't really care."

    "Me Neither."

Then just issue after issue of flying superhero porn until the book is cancelled for moral questionableness.

I started getting Dynamite's Miss Fury.

It's a period piece like The Shadow and the art is fantastic.

Why bring this up here? I'm surprised at how similar she is to Catwoman. Thief puts on cat outfit and eventually becomes a crime fighter. I wonder who plagiarized who. :p She's a fascinating character though, almost the female version of The Shadow. She's a wealthy socialite who's bored and steals because of it. She also travels and a trip to Africa transforms her and endows her with heightened abilities. She then returns to Manhattan a new person.

It's a good read. I hope they can use this premise to tell decent stories.

The God personify their concepts. War/Ares as an old man, Dionysius as a fratboy, etc. It's too bad Greg Rucka did this already in WW and it's not like the Endless were original in the first place.

I'm almost done catching up on all my Green Lantern reading and I have to say so far I am not enjoying Wrath of the First Lantern all that much. I've read up to issue 18 of all the involved titles and so far it is just "meh" to me. I enjoyed Rise of the Third Army much more.

I'll also drop Red Lanterns as soon as this storyline is done. In fact, I probably could have easily done without reading any of the Red Lantern crossover issues and still understood the story just fine. To be honest I'm not sure how Red Lanterns has made it this many issue. I picked it up up starting with issue 13 and so far none of the issues have appealed to me at all.

I dropped Red Lanterns after a couple of issues. Now I'm considering picking it back up, since there will be a new team on it, and it will be the only place to read Guy Gardner, my favorite Lantern.

I agree that Wrath has been underwhelming. Unless the last issue really blows me away and ties everything together, Johns is leaving Green Lantern on a whimper. Really, he should have bowed out after Blackest Night.

^I hadn't heard that about Guy. Guess he won't be getting his ring back.

^He already got his ring back, but apparently he's leaving the Corps in GLC #21 and will be the new main character of Red Lanterns. BTW, his new Red Lantern look is pretty lame. What was wrong with his previous one, I wonder?

    Here you go

Not digging the collar. I guess since he's going to be the new Red Lantern leader they wanted his look to mimic Atrocitus somewhat.

I agree. He definitely ran out of steam by BN. He should have transitioned out by Brightest Day.

Azz's take is much more interesting than Rucka's, which came across as the Gods in modern clothes.

I suppose in some respects I'm sort of the opposite. I haven't had a chance to fully catch up, but I find the Red Lantern issues more interesting than either the Third Army or First Lantern arcs (although I've only seen snippets of the later, so I can't properly judge yet). I will agree about Guy's new RL look not being as good, and I'm not sure how I feel about him leaving the green for the red.

Well now that I know Guy will be joining the Red Lanterns I might hang on a bit longer to see what happens.

I said earlier in the thread that I hate this idea. During War of the Green Lanterns, Guy wound up wearing both a red and violet ring. In order to break Krona's hold over the Corps, he had to figure out what exactly it was in the universe that he loved and hated the most. What he found? The thing he loved most was being a Green Lantern, and the thing he hated most was the combination of someone trying to take it from him, and having the red ring on his finger amplifying his rage at that. The Guy Gardner that I know would never willingly leave the Green Lantern Corps to join the Red Lanterns. Still, Guy is my favorite Lantern, so I'll follow him wherever he goes and see how this plays out.

I've long stated that Geoff Johns should have concluded his run with Blackest Night, that was the last part of his "trilogy" (his own words) so logically it would have made sense to wrap up his run with it and have DC put others on the book.

Btw...Johns final issue is supposed to be 88 pages!

I was just looking at my pull list for Wednesday, and it says Green Lantern #20 has been pushed to May 22, yet Green Lantern Corps that takes places after it is still coming out this week?

Just clicked on the preview for Batman and Red Hood #20 and I have to say that I'm really enjoying this version of Carrie Kelly. She's been an interesting character so far. I am assuming that at the end of the grieving arc that Bruce will reveal to her that his son is actually dead. Or she'll come to realize that he's been hiding that in order to hide their secret from her.

Batman #20 was excellent and a whole lot of fun...wasn't expecting to see Terry's suit in the issue, that was a nice surprise and Fox's line that it wouldn't be ready, and that there were other issues with it. Heh. Also I teared up at the end of the issue...that tear from Bruce...looking forward to the Zero Year starting next month.

Batman and Red Hood #20 was great as well. Tomasai is doing a great job with this steps of grief and incorporating Carrie Kelly as well into this. The art has been fantastic as well. Also wasn't expecting the end.
