Apparently not. I think we need to show consumer demand...

It'd just seem wrong to me to give NF to another author. They're Peter David's babies (or have become such, in the case of Shelby, Selar etc.), and there are plenty of other Treklit characters to go around.

He does not own them and he knew it when he started writing them.

I never said he did own them. But he has written them for 18+ books, is responsible for all their development. They're his babies.

I doubt PAD would be overly mad if Pocket decided to give the series to another author. After all he comes from the comic book world where it is normal to change the head-writer for a series all the time.

Having said that, I hope the series will continue under PAD one day.

I don't think he'd be happy about it at all. Unless, of course, he decided not to write anymore and they THEN gave it to another author. If they asked someone else to continue the adventures, without even offering the chance to PAD to finish out his narrartive, IMO, it would be quite the slap in the face.

I never said he would be happy, only that he probably has been in similar situations in the comic world often enough to not hold a grudge about it for too long.

I'm probably one of the bigger PAD fanboys around here, and to be honest if Schlesinger & his gang decided to not work with him anymore (wouldn't be their first bad decision and probably not their last) it's their & TrekLit's loss.

I'll just buy and read his original stuff to get my fix. *shrug*

I disagree. I'd rather like another author, one with a bit less of the PAD madness approach. :)
