then FIREFLY would never have been canceled! I recently purchased a "failed" TV series (from a few years back) called "Odyssey 5". 5 shuttle astronauts watch the world get destroyed and are sent back in time (or at least their consciousnesses are) to try and stop it. It had a 2 hour pilot and another 18 eps, and since I'd caught one or two on broadcast TV, I purchased the rest to see how it played out. Alas, it didn't get to play out fully since there never was a "season 2". BUT... if I could WISH for another season... I'd LOVE to see season 2 of "FIREFLY" (FOX), season 5 of "THE PRETENDER" (NBC) and season 2 of "ODYSSEY FIVE" (Cable?) Anyone else have a fav they'd like to bring back for another season? (Before I'm accused of deserting certain fav shows... I don't see Voyager or Xena as coming back for a full season... I see them as candidates for "telemovies" )
Journeyman. Started ok, quietly got better just about every episode until the end of S1, which finished on a high note. Sadly, it had already been canceled.
I've come to accept that Firefly is over. A few years ago, I would have absolutely wished for more, but I no longer feel the need. I'd definitely have to go with "Angel." I know we have the comics, but I would have loved to see Season 6 play out on TV.
Never watched either, but you've reminded me of another.... I'd like to see season 2 of Flash Forward.
In addition to many of the ones already mentioned... Sarah Connor Chronicles season 3. They ended season 2 in a really interesting place that would have changed the entire series had they continued the show. Probably for the better. Space Above and Beyond season 2. Killing off most of the main characters(maybe) while revealing that evil humans might have been behind the war? Yeah, it demanded another season. Dark Angel season 3. The mutants form a conclave with a war against the humans on the horizon. Give it another season please. The Event season 2. Season 1 was pretty weak overall but ended in a place that would have radically changed the entire show and made it far, far, far more interesting. Dark Skies season 2. A really uneven first season, but it ended quite well and the stakes finally felt real and important. Plus the idea of each season taking place in a different decade was very intriguing.
And if it had any scientific balls, Season 2 would have been a single episode showing what happens when 2 planets collide. The season one finale was moronic.
Sure, the gravity and tidal forces would have destroyed Earth in reality. If the alien people did not have some sort of inertia dampener or mass reducing field, which given that they were pretty advanced and it was a sci-fi show seems perfectly plausible within the setting of the show.
I second Space: Above and Beyond. Firefly, naturally. Alien Nation - even thought the TV movies pretty much gave us a second season. I didn't really like Dark Angel's second season, but maybe a third would have helped. Hey, what a shock - these were all Fox shows that got cancelled too soon.
Odyssey 5 was way ahead of its time. SGU could have had a fantastic 3rd season if they fired all of the writers.
Original Law & Order. One more season and it woulda beat Gunsmoke for longest running drama. Bastards!
