So I"m 1\3rd of the way through the Q Continuum Trilogy.. Holy crap. I'm a Trek fan buy my knowledge isnt any where near the sheer amount of references, one liners and inside jokes these books have. What does everyone think about this book? I just finished the first one and the only thing I've learned is that Lem Fal is crazy, Barclay's still a dolt, the Calamarain are protecting the Barrier, and Q has obviously locked 0 inside. That's a lot of padding for a trilogy. Hope things pick up with Book Two.
That was some hardcore XXX action continuity porn. Some of which might still be illegal in most states.
Just one of the things I love about your, and Christopher's, novels is all the mentions and subtle nods to what has come before. Keep it coming.
No author is better at using so many different pieces of continuity and make it not seem overbearing.
Getting serious for a moment. That was my first attempt at a trilogy and I'll admit that I struggled with the pacing a bit . . . .
As long as it doesn't go overboard I love the "continuity porn" in my novels. When it comes to Star Trek, I'm basically a porn pig as long as the story keeps moving along.
Without teasing too much, let me just say that my upcoming book, No Time Like the Past, probably qualifies as triple-X continuity porn . . .
The last few weeks I've read Assignment: Eternity, The Rise And Fall Of Khan Noonien Singh 1 and 2, and To Reign In Hell: The Exile Of Khan Noonien Singh, Rings Of Time and the Weight Of Worlds. This week I read Dayton Ward's From History's Shadow. No wonder I had to smoke a cigarette after each one. Continuity porn indeed.
Agreed, where as other authors just slow and bog down the story and seem to just throw stuff in for the hell of it, making links where none are needed, same with explaining things that don't need explaining.
