You have to go to a mail terminal, and then open your mail, and should be an option to 'take item'. Then can delete the email once the item doesn't show up in it anymore.

If you delete the mail before claiming the item again, it's gone, they won't fix that.

Hell, if they can just save the BOFF layout and keybinds to be rapidly switchable, that would help - there's a current bug that occasionally wipes the BOFF keybinds - really hampered my performance in a Fleet Alert last night as there was no time to reassign them.

So, Tuvok is the next guest star in STO. Tim Russ has added his voice as Admiral Tuvok for the upcoming season 8.5 mission.

Free uniform for installing a possibly buggy, spyware loaded piece of software that heavily encourages you to play other PWE games? No thank you.

On the other hand, it's what they are going to anyway, so it's more just 'free uniform for doing it early'.

Eh, was hoping for better, since I already HAD the horta. Couldn't tell you where I got it from, but had it forever. Said "Available" vice 0 Zen, so must have been an account unlock somewhere along the way?

Anyone know what today's item is? Would be nice to get something that's not a retread or already claimed by big chunks of the players...

    Yes.

Today is the Defiant/Birdofprey bridge packs.

I have the Defiant one already and I think the BoP one, too, but have to check on that.

    http://sto.perfectworld.com/news/?p=1086041

Mind you: this is the early cryptic original Defiant bridge, NOT the more accurate Sao Paulo bridge compared to the real one.

Anyone know what today's reward is? Can't get to those sites from work...

Finally got to T5 in Dyson rep. Finished the ground set, but is the space set (4 piece, not the 3-piece weapons set) worth getting? Thought about it, but as each piece is 32k DIL, kinda seemed like a lot unless it's really good. Otherwise I'm not hurting with the Adapted MACO set i've got now, plus 3-piece Borg weapon/console, and 2-piece AP beam/warp core set from the beginning of the Sphere series. Everything else is Advanced AP Dual Heavy Cannons and AP consoles, mostly.

Lastly, anyone seen the backlash on the Anniversary event this year? Not that the forums are ever happy, but seems the plan is to make the ship a grind-fest this year (like the winter event ship) vice a fun mission and reward like the previous reward ships (Ambassador, Oddy). Even managed to turn a thank you celebration into a grind, i guess.

And then they'll be selling the $50 C-Store version afterwards, slightly better. That part is fine (but I'm not gonna buy), but the kicker is that in order to finish the set bonus, you have to complete the grind AND buy the new ship bundle. IMO kinda turns the Thank You into a F*ck You. No problem with them selling stuff to monitize, but to even do it to the Anniversary celebration seems kinda crappy...

No its actually one set bonus for the Anniversary version space set and one set bonus from the C-store bundle consoles.

Basically its like the two set bonuses system they use fro the Borg gear, Romulan gear, Voth gear, and ect.

So the real kicker will likely be when they add the anniversary science destroyers to the fleet store and you have to pay $20 bucks just to get the warp core to finish the anniversary space set if the C-store versions don't come with the Warp core.

I am long past teh point of caring about the monetization.

Who cares if they add a new non-canon ship with the umptenth space set?
It's not like we need it.
All science vessels will get the new second deflector array, so if you want to try this new game play method, you just have to wait out the exclusiv hybrid ship promotion and are good to go.

Edit: Oh, and the give-away today is the Saber Refit Escort: Gladius Class and the Qorgh Raptor Refit: SuQob Class. The fed escort comes with the super speed console, the KDF raptor with bio-neural warhead.
I don't have either, so thanks I guess for that ugly little Lego boat. ;)

guess the real question is: who is using a SCI ship in the first place?

It's an all-DPS game, Escort is basically the only way to fly. Or go ENG/Tank and spec out a cruiser to take a beating while still dishing some out. Either way, SCI is that middle ground that doesn't really do anything very well. Gimmicks, but not tanking or DPS...

Yeah, I have a feeling sci will make a bit of a comeback with the new deflector mechanic.

It will enable them to be noticably more effective with their spell casting.
Once they get the new mechanic a lot of people will pull their science ships out of mothballs and give them a bit of prominence.
Ultimately people will go back to escorts, though I hope escorts don't get a new mechanic as well. They already have the cannon advantage and are powerful enough as is.

Personally I would like them to give the Intrepid a facelift to make the look of the ship canon accurate finally.

Besides that, the Vesta will get a sales boost, too.

I dont know what to think about that anniversary ship yet. I though dont like the Dyson Sphere paint job really, fugly even. I hope one can use those standard hull materials also( like the vet one).
I guess tomorrow they will release some more specs about it in a dev blog.
I might grind one for one Fed too and maybe KDF, not sure if my one and only Romulan will need it really. I will see how I feel really. I doubt I can afford the C-store versions now, besides there few other ships there I would rather buy, like the Andorian ships or the Regent.

I do look forward to the new mission with Tuvok and the spacesuits look nice:techman:
I kind of wish we would see comeback of the 5 mission FE, I miss the good old story based content sometimes( thank God the foundry!).

I do like fly science ships myself, the Vesta is a good ship.
I am still confused why only 6 weapon slots for science ships still though? I dont see a valid reason to punish science Captains like that:confused:..and the skills arent really OP anyways.
