How they said that regents had been in charge since warehouse 2, I wondered did they mean "the same" Regents? Are they, baring accidents, immortal?
^ I hadn't thought of them being immortal! Seems plausible to me. Especially for the guardian of the Big Secret that wears the funky wristband, if none of the others...
They might be immortal as far as living normally goes but they are clearly not invulnerable to injury or death from injury. It was cool seeing KM on tv again.
Possibly, or it could just mean that the institution has been around since Warehouse 2. Before that, maybe the Warehouse was administered by kings or priests or whomever. I believe the first Warehouse was established by Alexander the Great. Possibly a board of regents was not put in charge until later, maybe after some monarch or high priest abused the power of the artifacts? This is just speculation on my part, btw. I never discussed this with the show's writers.
I forgot the "Thelma & Loise" joke! http://io9.com/5836005/warehouse-13s-janeway-and-bering-are-our-new-favorite-action-duo Gotta love my Mulgrew!
I must have missed this one, the first time around. http://scifimafia.com/2011/08/warehouse-13-kate-mulgrew-on-her-role-and-behind-the-scenes/ ETA: Mulgrew centric preview of "Shadows" http://video.syfy.com/shows/warehouse13/v1350840
So you've all made the obvious connection that when Pete was married, that 7 and Janeway had a mother/daughter (inlaw) relationship? Christmas, Thanksgivings, New Years Eve? Oh, and ever-repressive questions like "Where the hell are my damn Grandchildren??!!"
Would just like to point out that Kate was fantastic as usual. That cliffhanger..oh cannot wait until the next episode!
Maybe the regents arn't immortal like Vandal Savage (Familial cannibalism aside), but Immortal like the Phantom, passing on the legacy sire to offspring generation after generation... I rewatched the pilot again a week back... When Pete confronts Artie in the Museum for the first time, Artie calls on Pete by name without introduction. I just assumed that Artie studied up before he sacked up, but if Pete is the son of a Regent, even if Artie didn't already know that, Red flags would have come up next to his name any time a Warehouse Mission might intersect with routine... Maybe Artie used to baby sit Pete when he was in diapers and all this has been to groom Pete to be Regent after his mother passes on? Maybe Jane has low level telepathic powers too? Maybe you have to have telepathy to be a Regent? Or did Pete just get frakked up by some hoodad his mommy brought home from work in the 70s? Gods. In the pilot. Pete was in Charge. Then they shipped in Myka who took over at the 9th hour before Artie arrived during the 10th hour before that artifact when critical in the 11th hour... Jane set them up. Romantically. The pilot was a double blind date! All together now... "Where the hell are my damn grand children Myka!!??"
I don't know. My impression is that Artie didn't know who any of the Regents were until he met them in that diner back in Season One. That seemed to be his first ever actual run-in with the Regents. Indeed, the fact that the Regents were just ordinary people from all walks of life had to be explained to him. On the other hand, I do want to see a flashback to one of those Thanksgiving dinners back when Pete was married to Seven of Nine . . . .
Damn. WH13 seems to be preempted by a Underworld marathon tonight. (Talked about being hoisted on my own petard!)
They said there would be all new ones in two weeks last week. SciFi always does marathons of movies on holiday weekends for some reason.
