That was surprisingly educational for new Top Gear, and still every bit as good as the rest of this season. Minus the crashing, the homage to BTCC and the FCX feature could have been old Top Gear segments. They even managed to make Top Gear Stuntman watchable.

I anxiously await Clarkson's home improvement show with Will Young. :guffaw:

That was brilliant! The Marina, the pork sword, the lot...

The hydrogen-based car was interesting - I wonder if Bush'll have it quietly destroyed in his last couple of weeks, just to be on the safe side for his mates' companies!

They should get into the hydrogen business. :D

Wonder if the repeat of it next Sunday at 8pm will be re edited for that time slot?

Good episode. I expected big things when Hammond announced it was time for vengeance on Fifth Gear but never mind - they tried! This year's Christmas was better than last year's too - a magician's sleeve and a pork sword you have to wonder who writes some of that stuff sometimes.

    Scarily educational too.

I do not think it was the best special they did it should have been a 2 hours long from what i have been reading but still enjoyed it.
Felt sorry for Jeremy when he fell off.

Clarkson was a bit too much of a jerk this time imo, painting Hammond's nice Minsk pink after already crushing his helmet, buying him a pink one and that ridiculous "miniature" boat was just mean. ;)

It was. Rounded off an excellent series all round I'd say. That bar they had to get to at the end was stunning.

Born in the USA! :guffaw: Poor, D'arsay's head. James May looked genuinely upset when she lost her head.

Well looks like we might be seeing a pared down Top Gear next year...

I just hope Doctor Who's budget doesn't get humped for Moffat's first season in 2010.

Right BBC, it's time to cull the herd. Strictly Come Flailing, Songs of Piss and Graham Norton are all expendable.

As is everything on BBC 3 (that isn't re-runs of Doctor Who and Top Gear).

No worries guys, i'm sure they will be slashing the license fee along with the budgets...

I'll happily pay double if it guaranteed an entire season of Doctor Who that didn't feature the usual "shitty 3 episodes (and unsatisfying finale)".

I wouldn't worry too much about this as far as Top Gear goes. There are plenty of ways they can trim the budget, the easiest of which is getting rid of the Top Gear Stuntman segments and some of the more crash-oriented segments (like destroying buses or caravans). Instead of a "find a classic (or not so classic) car" challenge for $1000, they'll pare it down to $250 and hilarity ensues.

IMO, as much as some car nuts despise it, the show's as much about the presenters screwing around as it is about the cars. They'll be fine.

Finally watched this episode--excellent stuff on par with their other international adventures.

I rewatched this part several times, but how did Clarkson manage to wipe out? It doesn't look like he's doing anything particularly dangerous or stupid (all things relative), and then he just falls over. Thankfully his injuries weren't worse than they were.

A late contender for quote of the year.
