I can honestly say, that for the most part, I hate comedic TV shows. HOWEVER...This new show called THE BIG BANG THEORY, because it is written for those like "us", is really my favorite comedy in decades...I love this show...

Classic comedies I like? Soap...Mash...but my all time favorite is All In The Family. Have it on DVD. Its not only funny, and very funny at that, it also has something to say.

    There's a few good ones.

NewsRadio was one of the most gutbustingly funny, quirky, character driven comedies of all time (before Phil Hartman was murdered, forever sullying everyone else's interest in doing the show).

Someone here once described Frasier as the 20th Century equivalent of Shakespeare. I'd have to agree.

Red Dwarf is a show I can watch over & over again and never tire of it.

The Simpsons was a great show, once upon a time...

Made in Canada is the sharpest satire ever written for TV, and it's about TV.
"Other than the being dead part, dying is always a good career move."
"If you ask nicely, they say no. If you threaten, they say no. If you imply that you may threaten them at some indeterminate point in the future, that's when they get nervous."
"Honey, I've been thinking, I don't care if I ever have an orgasm, just as long as you do. And you can sleep with other women, lots of other women. And I'll stand by you because I'm Faith; stupid, no orgasm Faith!"
"Beaver Creek, the kind of show a Mormon could love. And they did. We got letters."
"There's no concept. Alan was going through a 'concepts are bad' phase."

I guess I am, too. You left off Taxi. And the Mary Tyler Moore show. And The Bob Newhart Show. But I'll forgive you. I'd mention MASH but it always seemed like a 'dramedy' to me, same as All in the Family.

To add to both lists, Monty Python's Flying Circus, although that qualifies more as satire.

Thanks. I should add All In The Family to that (so I will).

My top 3 would probably be:

    Seinfeld
    Arrested Development
    Frasier

Just well done, smart comedies. There are no current sitcoms I even watch.

My favorite comedies tend to be British

    Red Dwarf
    Father Ted
    The Vicar of Dibley
    Steptoe and Son
    The Goodies
    Fawlty Towers

    and Australian

    Full Frontal
    Fast Forward
    Frontline
    The Games

The American comedy I like the most is F Troop (I have just bought both season of it and enjoying it after having seeing it on TV for more than 20 years)
