Looks like eventurally everything will be remade. Hey, as long as it's good that's ok with me.

Bryan Fuller seems like a good fit for a remake of The Munsters.

Could be fun. Let the casting speculation begin!

(And, no, Nathan Fillion can't play Herman!)

The only reason I'm not totally ignoring this news is because Fuller's responsible for Dead Like Me, Pushing Daisies and many of Heroes' good episodes. Anyone else and I wouldn't give this show a second glance.

lets see, a modern family with a vampire wife & grandfather, a reanimated corpse for a huband, a werewolf son & a normal daughter. Yeah i can kinda of see how this could fit the Dead Like Me/ Pushing Daisies mold.

On one hand, The Munsters is a TV classic; do we really need a remake? On the other hand, nostalgia aside, was The Munsters really that great a show? That plus Fuller's involvement make me think this actually has potential.

Well okay. But only because it's Bryan Fuller! :rommie:

I thought Eddie was a vampire. Granted, I don't really understand monster genetics.

Eddie was a wolf-boy. Marilyn was a cousin, not a daughter.

I have to agree that anyone else taking a shot at remaking the Munsters would be an automatic fail. But Bryan Fuller has the imagination to make this work, as long as the suits leave him alone.

It's a Bryan Fuller show. It'll be cancelled.

It's a NBC show, so it will be cancelled.

But to be fair Bryan Fuller left Dead Like Me after only a few episode, and Pushing Daisies could have been a lot better. He is nuts and without his name attached to this it would be a complete disaster.

Of course not. He'll be Lily.

I'm generally open-minded on remakes and I'm surprised the Munsters hasn't been properly remade before (the series from the 1990s was awful). Fuller seems a good choice to revamp it and the way that this is described sounds promising.

Part oft he problem with this one is that the original's show's success owed so much to the original casting - none of the prior remakes have been any good.

Robert Llewellyn's portrayal of Kryten was very Herman Munster-like at times.

I think he even referenced Herman once.

I liked the first TV movie revival better than the "Munsters Today" show - the plot was lame, but they did a marvelous job of recasting (Edward Hermann was most remarkable) and recreating the original look of the show and characters:

He does a lot of the same mannerisms- the big open-mouthed silent laugh, etc.

I'm on board as long as they keep the Munster pets. Igor the Bat, Kitty, Spot the Dragon, and the Raven.

    1. Of course we need a remake, that's all TV is anymore, or haven't you been paying attention? Hell, even the Munsters remake is twenty two years old. Pretty soon, we'll need a remake of that

    2. As it happens, I'm re-watching my DVD set of the original as we speak, and no, it was not a "great" show, but it IS fun and enjoyable.

    Oooh Landau, good call! :bolian:

For Herman Munster, I nominate Adam Baldwin. :D
