I made the same observation as Venardhi a year ago. I think the trigger is REL's work looks mathematically perfect. His finished surfaces are smooth and his details line up so well that the effect is similar to work done in an environment where such precision comes easily: CG modelling.

REL's a skilled craftsman who pays meticulous attention to perfecting his details. He's the deg3D or Vektor of real-world model building.

Yeah, there aren't many model builders like him that I know of.

I wish this could make it into STO instead of some of those crazy Klingon ships Cryptic has designed.

Me neither. It's better than CG - it's real! Very rare in this day and age - particularly with regard to the skill level required to scratch-build such a design. Probably one of the best Klingon designs ever made since the K'Tinga upgrade herself, and far better than the Bird of Prey and Vorcha. I really don't want you to think I'm blowing sunshine up your ass, Rel, but this thing is sublime!

Thank you very much for all the wonderful words, I really do appreciate it.

I think this is my favorite angle, I only wish I was good enough at Photoshop to remove the stand. I was thinking of making a top mount for it for photography's sake but I never did.

Great ship and excellent work building her. :techman:
At some point, you mentioned about doing blueprints when finished the construction. Are they available? :)

Interesting CG render, but the starboard nacelle is a little blurry and what's up with the weird space ship docked on the bottom? It looks like you took your inspiration from a modelling stand. Clean that up and sold! Too bad we'll never see a physical model of this one.

I'm not sure who's pulling who's leg here.

And REL, if you don't want the support rod visible in the picture, just delete it from the mesh and re-render!

Simple solution: Remove the mount, stand the model in its tail on a black background, run the power cord directly back, away from the camera, then tilt your camera and take the photo at the same angle. Someone with even minimal PhotoShop skills will be able to remove what little of the plug overlaps the ship and also get rid of any remnants of the background.

Oh wow, this has to be the best modelling I've seen in a long long while! Absolutely amazing work. And an even better design.

Holy Shit! I thought this was a computer model, not a real model. You've got crazy modeling skills, and this is the coolest, most believable version of this ship I've ever seen. I wish it was used "in universe" going forward, since it looks so much more structurally sound.

Again, "excellent job" doesn't adequately convey the incredible job, but it'll have to do! :)

This really is an amazing concept model. Don't know if it was intentional, but I like how the top of the neck is a little reminiscent of some of the Klingon head ridges.

    Well done, OP.

This is still my favorite Klingon design barring the original D7.
