Am I missing somethign obvious, but this seems to suggest something else is coming for the 50th? Any ideas?
The rumor mill is Paul McGann. I haven't been paying attention to those rumors because I thought it was just random speculation in this very forum last week. Don't get me wrong, I would be thrilled if it was true but I'm not holding my breath.
Ok that'd be interesting. I wonder if they'd insist on a wig/frock coat or if he'd be allowed to use his newer look?
Depends on the context of the story(s), I suspect. Considering he only made the one appearance, they may want to stay pretty close to it for those who only know of him from a couple shots in the show and maybe looking him up online. Changing his appearance drastically (if it is a one-off and not a series of 'webisodes') kind of undercuts bringing him back at all.
First picture I get from Google image search with "paul mcgann doctor" is this one: http://onceuponageek.com/images/doctorwho_mcgann2a.jpg So they might as well use that look or some variation of it.
One can only hope (since we're already dreaming) that if this rumor is true, than maybe India Fisher will make an appearance, too. But that's probably asking for too much.
I would think if they used a non TV companion then Sherdian Smith would be the more likely though I doubt we'll get either.
^People might think they were watching Jonathan Creek though I can see positives and negatives for either outfit, perhaps some kind of halfway house between the two?
Also, the fact that Paul McGann is always pulled out for these kinds of rumours makes me doubt that story.
The big something else could also be the 50th Anniversary celebrations taking place in London on the Anniversary weekend. Mr Awe
There are rumors of missing episode discoveries -- plural -- that were being held back from release specifically for the anniversary.
The rumours have been around since at least November, so things have gone off the boil as people assume that they've been false leads. Which they probably are, but just maybe it's being kept secret, or the leads are real but there's a problem recovering them which is best helped by keeping the chatter down while negotiations are ongoing. (As I've just failed to do).
^ Hard to imagine that would be possible, but here's hoping! Still thinking the most likely, and already announced, are the celebrations that weekend in London. I also wouldn't be surprised by the webisodes. Mr Awe
The number of times we've seen "Evil of the Daleks" footage crop up in retrospectives over the past year (first, in the Advent Calendar and Moffat's paeon to the story, then in the BAFTA tribute) has me wondering if part of "Evil" has been found and this is their way of teasing that.
