It was TrekBBS who first introduced me to The Fox. And now he's five years old today. Wow! Doesn't seem so long!

Now I'm even getting just a little familiar with the fox's friend, the penguin.

How many users here switched to the fox?

I'm with the fox. I think I picked it up because of the bbs, too. Happy birthday!

It's only been 5 years? I would've thought it had been around longer.

I believe I was introduced to the fox via its cousin, the now-defunct lizard. I very rarely use anything else.

Here's to many more years.

I thought it was longer than that until PyschoPere said something on facebook a few or two about it.

I forget how I came to be a friend of the fox...I've been using it since it's early days, so it was probably recommended to me. Or I read about it. Or something.

    Damn my useless memory!

I forget where I first heard about it, but it was probably here. And I've been using it at least three years, I think, so I guess I adopted it early on.

    Happy Birthday, Firefox. [IMG]

    Hurray for the fox!

It took me a couple of months to warm up to the idea of it after my brother in law first started talking about it, but I never looked back.

I wonder what browser I used the first couple of months I was on-line

(Oh btw: Firefox is one of the few browsers that support animated PNGs, hence the bouncy logo ;) )

I can't remember where I heard about it. The version number was 0.8 I think, something like that, so it was way early. An Aussie computer mag I'm pretty sure.

I started using the fox around .80 (still my favorite version).
Hard to believe it's been 5 years!

    Happy birthday, Fox!

It was all in Mozilla first before they decided to separate just the browser from the rest of the stuff.

I'm trying to remember, I think I started using Mozilla in '02

Same here, it was largely the BBS that got me into Firefox.

I too was eventually lured towards the Fox having been a staunch fan of operatic works, and as a feature-packed alternative to IE it saw a lot of action with me. However, recently that fox has become bloated, fat, greedy, and gluttonous, at least towards me, so I eventually threw the thing out and settled back in for several nights at the Opera. But I still occasionally revisit the Fox for the occasional evening of Loathing. :bolian:

I was using the Fox back when it was still a fiery bird.

In the context of this thread, this is bordering on the heretical and you're clearly a demon.

I have tried Opera and Chrome, even whatever the Apple one is, and despite the (sometimes serious and annoying) flaws I still prefer the fox.

Ultimately it was the (sometimes serious and annoying) flaws that made me fall out of love with the Fox. Still, I do like a lot of the things about it, including some of the add-ons like Greasemonkey and Tab Mix Plus. And Download-Em-All... that came in very useful on some days... :)

As long as I'm not being blasphemous, then I'm OK with that. :D

Yeah, I like Opera, but I am so comfortable with Firefox, despite it's flaws, that I don't ever stay for long. I've used Opera, Safari, Internet Explorer, Chrome, Camino, Mozilla, Netscape, Avant, Epiphany, Maxthon, K-Meleon, Konqueror, and nothing has kept me like Firefox. I have yet to meet it's equal.
