Cool! I hope they make them not just villains but the more tragic figures from their original episode.

I'm mainly concerned with the fact that Mark Gatiss is writing the episode.

I'm not sure if I have been in the minority or not, but in my opinion his track record since 2005 has been sort of hit or miss. Mostly miss. :(

Good! To be fair, there hasn't been a lot of good Ice Warriors stories.

Yay! About time they made a comeback. They're the most prominent classic monsters that haven't yet returned.

IMO, Night Terrors is the only real flop Gatiss has written. Mind you, The Unquiet Dead took several viewings to get develop an appreciation for while The Idiot's Lantern does not hold up to repeated viewings at all. I know I'm in the minority here, but I love Victory of the Daleks.

But it's good to know the Ice Warriors are returning, regardless of who is writing. I've always considered them to be an intriguing race.

Yay. Mark Gatiss had two good episodes in 7a, didn't he?

Gatiss didn't write anything in 7A. 7A consisted of:
Asylum of the Daleks by Steven Moffat
Dinosaurs on a Spaceship by Chris Chibnall
A Town Called Mercy by Toby Whithouse
The Power of Three by Chirs Chibnall
The Angels Take Manhattan by Steven Moffat

Ah, OK, it was Chibnall, who's often maligned, but, had two good episodes, my bad :alienblush:

I enjoyed Gatiss' "Night Terrors" but his other stuff I haven't been fond of.

Goes to prove that sometimes people claiming to be "In The Know" are telling the truth, since this is exactly what was rumoured many months ago.

Now if the other half of what's rumoured comes to pass I wonder how people will react...

Half of the rumours about the Ice Warriors.

Specifically that it will be revealed that...

what we've always thought are the Ice Warriors are actually robot suits a la that alien from Men In Black or a one-man Tessalecta being driven by the real, puny Martian inside.

This has been rumored for awhile but it's good to know that it's been confirmed. I'm looking forward to their return.

I hope that's not the case. I quite like Big Finish's back history for them but I don't expect the show to follow suit.

I do hope that they're not referred to as Ice Warriors (or worse, have them refer to themselves as Ice Warriors considering humans were the ones who called them that).

That is addressed rather humourously in the novel The Silent Stars Go By.
