Re: Captain America: The First Avenger-Review, Discuss, Grade, Sequel,

whilst im sure the decesion to bring Bucky back in the comics has worked in that medium, im unsure if it will work in any Capt Am movie series, ok I grant you it is a movie based on a comic book, but im not sure movie auidences will go for it.

That said ive said the same about UK & US soaps, in the US soaps, charactes come back from the dead all the time, where as in the UK, its something that if frowned up on.

I fear that too a movie auidence, Bucky being both alive and in the present day is going to appear contrived, unless its part of the wider plot arc of the movie. Its going to take a huge dose of comic book logic.

That said that is just my opinon, I cant say if that is held by other movie goes. I mean its almost crazy to say that, you cant use comic book logic in a comic book movie, as most of the movie is built on comic book logic.

Movie audiences won't care as long as it's done in an entertaining fashion.

to be fair looking at the linked wikipedia page and reading up on

    Winter Soldier
it does seem the movie has done, for Buckys comic book future to appear in future Cap Am movies.

He fell into a river and then got frozen in the movie. In the comic he falls into the North Atlantic and freezes.

We've talked about Bucky's fate earlier in the thread without using spoiler codes...why are we doing so now with them? LOL. Sebastian Stan has a multiple movie deal (nine films) and has brought the character mentioned on this page in his press junkets. I think Scarlett Johansson brought him up as well in one of her interviews about "Avengers" interviews or when Stan was cast since the two characters end up in a relationship.

It's also not SHIELD that recovers and unfreezes Bucky....

SHIELD did unfreeze Cap Am however, they cleary have some advanced tec, guess this is one of those comic book things we are meant to just accpet.

nine movies seems like ALOT, dont get me wrong he has a place in future Cap Am movies, and possibly later Avengers, unless he has some roles in future Iron Man movies (with Scarlett Johansson).

Yeah I was referring to Hydra/Red Skull which also has been shown to have advanced tech and is the group who recovers Bucky. Or at least we can assume does in the movie. This will most likely be explored in "Captain America 2". Remember that Steve found James interestingly drugged and on a surgical table strapped down, I believe that Dr. Zola was just down the room too :)

I guess HYDRA could reform without Red Skull, I dont suppose that Cap Am and his gang killed everyone when the shut down the HYDRA facilities in the movie, its possible those who survived could regroup and reform HYDRA. Unless HYDRA was bigger than it would appear in the movie.

So basically Cap Am 2 is going to undo alot of what we thought we knew from Cap Am ;)

You do realise it's a Comic book movie?

Sam Jackson has a nine picture deal, too.

And, so far, he's had a bit to do in Iron Man 2 only had one scene in Thor and two scenes in Captain America.

Obviously he'll have a big part in The Avengers, since SHIELD even gets its own character poster.

So, that's four movies down, five to go...

Not for this example, no, since Sam Jackson's current contract with Marvel didn't happen 'til after his Iron Man cameo.

At least, that's what I read...he cameo'ed first & then got a huge contract out of Marvel to continue the role in other movies.

Not to mention that it has been rumored and suggested that Jackson will be starring in a "Nick Fury: Agent of Shield" film. He has mentioned it himself that it is being developed right now. It's very possible if Stan DOES become Winter Solider he could get a solo movie of his own.

It's not Hydra that gets Bucky after his ice dip. It's the Russians.

Re: Captain America: The First Avenger-Review, Discuss, Grade, Sequel,

yes I believe ive mentioned that in my posts if you care to read them.

it is quite easy to see why Jackson has a 9 movie deal, and how he will complete 9 movies. Even a Nick Fury: Agent of Shield movie is possible, a Bucky movie however feels like a risk to me, and given hiow movies can take two years to make, it seems risky to do one with Bucky (unless we see something more in future movies)

That said and with all respect to the source materail there a vast differnce between giving Bucky a movie of his own, and a comic book of his own, $millions more differnce.

Bucky as part of a SHIELD (or the Nick Furty movie) seems the best bet IMO.

If we going to start giving supporting characters movies, I would rather give one to Hawkeye, we know alot more about Bucky than we do Hawkeye.

@Mr. Light thanks for correcting me....I'd forgotten it was the Russians. Zola still did the work though IIRC and the film universe could still use Hydra.

No doubt Hydra has plenty of use still in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
I do wonder at what point they might get around to introducing AIM?
Would an Iron Man 3 be a good place?
Maybe an all SHIELD movie? Make them the counter terror force vs SHIELD?

I would actually find a Hawkeye movie more likely than not. After all he is the only Avenger who hasn't had or doesn't have a movie in the works (at least as far as we know ATM).

Winter Solider is an awesome character which as has been mentioned becomes Captain America after Steve "dies". I'm not saying that Marvel Studios would green light a Winter Soldier film but it is worth mentioning. There are other films that Stan could appear in as Winter Solider along with flashback sequences. I would think that it is possible we could see future solo movies for all the other Avengers such as Hawkeye and a third Hulk film starring Ruffalo as I believe he signed a multi-picture deal as well.
