Does anyone have any good photos of the Mortar/Grenade Launcher seen in Arena?

Are there any fan made versions out there?

I'm looking to build my own version and was wondering if there are any good pics of it.

    Thanks.

Just don't try and make a working model, or you'll blow yourself up.

I remember there was an episode of "Myth Busters" where they recreated the cannon. A lot of their episodes are on YouTube.

I saw that one, it was great! The guy testing the bamboo cannon even wore a (very good) Kirk uniform. They really went to town on it.

    The grenade launcher:

I think the OP is referring to the weapon the landing party retrieved on Cestus III, the Federation device that lobbed tennis ball sized explosives into the hills where the Gorn troops were positioned.

    Sincerely,

    Bill

It looks like they started with a big Thermos, cut the end off the kid to make an opening, then added a wire stand and a few other things and went from there...

More likely the machine shop cut some pipes and nested them inside each other.

Is the next movie a "remake" of "Arena"? I thought this was supposed to be a "reboot."

I just saw the BATMAN episode "While Gotham City Burns," and it features a prop strikingly similar to Kirk's grenade launcher.

They call it the batzooka, but it's not the only weapon to bear that name in the series.

The whole episode is viewable (at present) on youtube.
