I've been watching all the series on DVD and am half way through Voyager. I've noticed something about Voyager that had me thinking, "This has to be the most of any ST series." Has anyone else noticed little things that seem to come in abundance in a series? Here's mine, unoffcial, and on average without really checking. In other words, I think ... Voyager - Most 1 word episode titles. (This one got me thinking.) TOS - Most captain/alien romances. DS9 - Longest openings before the opening credits. (Some of these were REALLY long.)
Hell, by that logic... TNG - most eps with an android DS9 - most eps with a shapeshifter ENT - most eps with a female vulcan All of Trek collectively - most eps with opening credits
The teaser for "Impulse" was shorter than "Scorpion, Part One." Some long teasers include: "Darmok" "Ship in a Bottle" "Seige of AR-558"
I think Enterprise eventually beats Voyager with most one word titles. Especially if you count "The _______" as a one word title. And the pre-credit teasers really got shorter in Voyager, and even shorter in Enterprise. At times I wondered why they even bothered, since their teasers never contributed anything to the episodes. And this isn't the result of "changing times." The Stargates usually have 3-5 minute teasers. Sometimes BSG had 10 minute teasers, which were even longer than DS9's.
Did you actually watch DS9? It had easily the least technobabble of all the Treks. Technobabble crown can only be disputed between TNG and VOY. Conversely, I haven't counted, but I think that DS9 had most episodes with long titles.
^Admittedly, it's been a while, but I've recently rewatched the first disk or two of DS9 season one, and everyone is certainly spouting the stuff! But I'm sure Voyager would take the prize - did an episode ever go by without it?
Season 1 of DS9 probably had a lot more of it than the rest of the show, since it was very TNG-like with a lot of 'space disease of the week' episodes.
TOS- Most duplicate Earths TNG- Most technobabble DS9- Longest pre-titles teasers VOY- Most forehead of the week aliens ENT- Most T & A (maybe TOS actually)
