    Hello, welcome!

We recently finished our "Children of Time" Line-by-Line over in the DS9 forum.

After each completed thread, we're randomly picking someone who participated to choose the next episode we do. The lucky winner this time around was Enterprise1981 And Enterprise1981 has chosen TNG's Premiere "Encounter at Farpoint" as our next Line-by-Line challenge!

For any unfamiliar with our "game," you are asked to post only a single line (defined as one character speaking without interruption by another character) per message. You can post as often as you like, but someone else must post a line in between your posts.

Our "rule" is that if the episode has a "To Be Continued..." on the end, it is done in a single thread, but if it's just an arc of related episodes, each episode is a separate thread.

As before, at the conclusion of this thread, I or, the diabolical mastermind of many telemarking scams, CoveTom, or the last comic standing in sandals, leandar, will run the randomizer to determine who will pick the next episode and get it going.

Okay, who's ready to meet Q?

    Let's Go!

The USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D is seen for the very first time.

Captain's Log, Stardate 41153.7. Our destination is planet Deneb IV, beyond which lies the great unexplored mass of the galaxy.

Picard stares into space from the Observation lounge.

My orders are to examine Farpoint, a starbase built there by the inhabitants of that world. Meanwhile, I am getting better acquainted with my new command, this Galaxy-Class USS Enterprise.

Picard walks through Engineering and rides the lift near the Warp Core.

I am still somewhat in awe of its size and complexity. As for my crew, we are short in several key positions, most notably, a First Officer, but I am informed that a highly experienced man, one Commander William Riker, will be waiting to join the ship at our Deneb IV destination.

Picard enters the Bridge and walks down to Data at his station, which will move during the next couple of episodes.

Picard: You will agree Data that Starfleets orders are difficult?

TROI: Farpoint Station. Even the name sounds mysterious.

PICARD: It's hardly simple, Data, to negotiate a friendly agreement for Starfleet to use the base while at the same time snoop around finding how and why the life form there built it.

    Data: Inquiry: the word "snoop?"

Whoops! Guess that's what I get for starting threads while exhausted.

    Fixed! Thanks Ziz!
