    Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude.

Psylocke is still British, she's just also "physically" Asian.

In the real world, there are more than one or two British citizens who... Oh? You just didn't understand what you were saying when you said it?

    Been there.

    (Hourly.)

In the mid 90s a seemingly Japanese assassin showed up who was driving Betsie's original body but with her hard core born and raised pure-bred anime themed super ninja mental state, despite for all intents and purposes being a roundeyes member of the British Aristpocracy.

(How many places in the queue did Brian Jump for succession to the throne when he went public as a Super Hero?)

I think there was some bleed over between the two during the process, when they traded places in the changeover, since when the dust settled, they were both purple haired telepaths.

    Legacy virus.

She is basically doing the asian equivalent of blackface.

    Classy of Marvel as always.

If they wanted a mutant ninja they could have just made a new character. Changing Psylocke gained them nothing I can perceive. But with a story as long as the X-Men's there is bound to be many examples of such choices.

    Yellow face.

Was Betsy was a shitty character?

fashion model purple haired spy mutant with battle armour who had been blinded by Slaymaster, and gutted by Sabretooth, awarded mechanical eyes by Mojo to clandestinely televise the X-men in a Faustian contract... Who was futilely in love with Cypher, a child almost half her age.

Sylvestri drew that armour kick ass.

    however..

What country is Jim Lee from?

    Korea.

    (Don't you mean America?)

    (Shut up!)

    That doesn't track.

    And the Mandarin was Chinese.

(Yes, but The Hand is an international cartel of Ninjas.)

    (SHUT UP!)

And this shit was all going down in Mandripoor that DOESN'T EXIST but I've always thought had a Cantonese vibe going for it!

    Fuck.

It's like racial profiling doesn't work.

Claremont invented Betsy in the 70s, so it's fair game whatever trials he and Jim thought up for Betsy in the last moments of the 80s.

And really, if Psylocke was still an English Rose i doubt that there would be 12,300 image results from a cosplay query into google about Psylocke.

It's amazing how slowly I get stuff.

You know how stupidly immature girls when they're in love with some one, that they write their true loves name over and over again in their journal, and then they write their own name altered temporally for post nuptials as if they had already taken their intendeds surname?

    It's a huge trope.

Doug Ramsey didn't call himself Douglock because he was fused body and soul with Warlock... it's because he wanted to marry Psylocke and she'd get to wear the pants after he took her name.

Don't you remember what it's like to be that in love?

Smoking is a nasty habit personally, but it's best to find a lover or/and partner who smokes because...

    1. No sense of smell.
    2. tremendous disposable income.
    3. They'll die first.
    4. it looks damn cool and you know it.

I think the main A vs X title has been getting better but so far the tie-ins have been far superior. Thought the Wolverine and the X-Men was great and the Avengers Academy one was pretty damn good as well. Haven't read Uncanny X-Men #11 but that sounds like it was good too.

Just finished the third issue. I agree with other's that it's getting better, and it's starting to go interesting places. This time Cap appears to be the one in the wrong (like in issue two where I felt Scott was in the wrong). It seems they're doing a good job of making everyone out to be a dick at some point, not sure if that's intentional or not, but that's how it's coming across.

And Wolverine? Well he's always a dick.

^Honestly, I think all three of them-- Cap, Cyke and Wolvie-- are all in the wrong. I think it's going to come down to something Hope thought in the last issue of Uncanny-- "Why doesn't anyone trust me? Logan, Emma, Scott, The Avengers, The X-Men, None of them trust me."

    Trust Hope.

Will post thoughts on Scott's visit to the Jean Grey School in Wolverine and the X-Men and the Avengers reaction in X-Men Legacy a little later.

The continuity in Wolverine and the X-Men and X-Men Legacy doesn't match up with Avengers vs X-Men. That's okay because they're both better than the main title, especially Wolverine and the X-Men. They are doing the best take on this event.

OK, Woverine and the X-Men 10 and X-Men Legacy 266.

Neither of these did much to make either Wolverine or the Avengers look good. In WatXM, Cyclops comes to the Jean Grey School to talk with Wolverine, but Wolvie goes after Cyke with claws popped. It isn't until Emma punches him in the head that Wolverine listens to what Cyke has to say. Not a lot of action in this issue, but it's the interactions that shine here. The exchanges between Kitty, Rachel and Emma were gold, and Quentin coming on to Illyana was hilarious. The talk between Scott and Logan was basically just a re-hash of what's been said before, with neither convincing the other of anything.

However, Cyke does pick up a few allies in the form of Iceman, (Nu)Angel, Rachel and Gambit. I liked how Bobby told Wolverine that he didn't leave Utopia and return to Westchester with Logan because he lost faith in Scott, he did it because Logan needed him. Now Scott needs him and he is going to help his oldest friend, but hopes he still has a place at the JGSFHL after the dust settles. Rachel, as a former Phoenix host herself, believes that she can help Hope deal with the power and leaves with that intention.

Wolverine tries to convince them that they should fight with the Avengers as they just want to help Hope (Without, of course, telling them that he plans on killing her). Wolvie's silence after Idie asked him to make sure that nothing bad happened to Hope was telling.

All in all, a decent issue that, like other AvX crossovers, read better than the event itself.

In X-Men Legacy 266, the Avengers, in the form of She-Hulk, Falcon and Moon Knight arrive at the Jean Grey School in order to ensure that no more of Logan's faculty switches sides. This isn't taken well by the X-Men at the school, as the Avengers are basically playing thought-police with the school and staff, preventing them from making their own choices.

Frenzy provokes Moon Knight into crossing the proverbial "line in the sand" and the fight is on. Rogue tries to keep things calm despite things like the white-hooded Moon Knight refering to the X-Men as "you people", but comes unhinged when She-Hulk accidently injures a student. The issue ends with Iron Man's arrival.

    The hulk

    And maybe THOR.

You see, I thought Wolverine and the X-Men #10 made Scott look the best he's been in months. He doesn't go all crazy and talks about his hope for...well, Hope. He keeps things on the positive and makes a better argument for his side than Wolverine does, who still relies on the whole "You're all nuts" card.

The one knock I have about Scott's argument about the Phoenix being the savior of mutantkind is that he sure as hell hasn't acted like it is. He absolutely refused to talk about it with Hope, even when asked by her about it. He's supposed to be a strategic genius but anyone with common sense knows that you only make things worse when you refuse to acknoweldge a problem. The Phoenix is the savior and Hope is the likely host yet he refuses to tell Hope anything about it. Despite the fact that it could help prepare her. By doing so, Scott has made this situation with Hope a lot worse. Quite frankly, his refusal to tell her anything has been cowardly.

OK, I've re-read New Avengers 25 along with reading NA 26 for the first time, and my suspisions were correct-- It reads better it one sitting (although there is still at least one more issue of this plot to go).

The story of a young red-headed girl named Fongji who lived hundreds of years ago and is prophisized to become the host of Phoenix. Master Yu-Ti of K'un L'un takes her in to be trained body and soul for the arrival of the Phoenix.

Yu-Ti recruits the aid of Leonardo DaVinci (Yes, that Leonardo DaVinci. For those of you who aren't following Johnathon Hickman's excellent SHIELD series, Leonardo was recently revealed to have been the greatest of the world's heroes in his time. A man of action like Nick Fury with the brain-power of Reed Richards), who is escorted to K'un L'un builds a device that will allow them to detect the Phoenix's arrival.

Yu-Ti's and Leonardo's approach to handling the Phoenix seems along the lines of what Cyclops was doing in AvX #1. In fact, Fongji has a flare-up of the Phoenix power that is ominously similar to the one Hope had in AvX #1. Fongji then enters the cave of the dragon Shao Lao, and emerges 2 days later as the new Iron Fist.

The issue ends with Leonardo detecting the arrival of the Phoenix and gives the warning of (You all see this a mile away, right?) "It's coming!"

The second issue of this arc leaves me wanting to read the next issue now, while the first issue made me go "WTF is this all about?" In typical Bendis style, he took two issues to get to the point of a story that could have easily been told in one.
