    I asked him.

He said: "I ANSWER AS SIMPLY AS YOUR LEVEL OF UNDERSTANDING MAKES POSSIBLE."

It's possible, but first you have to figure out how to get around the spoiler protection. ;)

As long as you spoiler tag anything you learn until 6 months after it happens...

For the record, the starship Aventine has appeared in the following novels:

    - Destiny: Gods of Night (2381)
    - Destiny: Mere Mortals (2381)
    - Destiny: Lost Souls (2381)
    - A Singular Destiny (2381)
    - Typhon Pact: Zero Sum Game (2382)
    - Brinkmanship (2383)
    - The Fall: Revelation and Dust (2385)
    - The Fall: A Ceremony of Losses (2385)

In other words, the Aventine has only appeared in a handful of novels and we've only seen a very few of her missions.

Haha true. But for "established" characters it seems a little trickier to stick. I mean, if Trip, Data, and Janeway have all died and been "resurrected" (through various plot twists, changes, etc.), then it's a little easier to believe something like Riker being an admiral is only a short-term development. Or look at Geordi's "I'm a captain... now I'm not..." development.

To be clear, I'm not knocking on any of the decisions to bring back those characters (I haven't read Data and Janeway's resurrection tales yet, though they're in my backlog)... okay, I didn't like what they did with Trip... but *conceptually*, well... maybe I'm a little jaded at the moment?

But hey, look at what they did with DS9 itself, so what do I know?

And Destiny, while 3 books, is one story and Singular destiny can easily be fitted as the epilogue to that story, and the Fall is one big story really, so it's just like four different occasions. so not much at all.

There needs to be an Aventine series!

This sounds like a great idea! I do wonder about the following:

Dax was arrested with Bashir near the conclusion of A Ceremony of Losses. It's possible her fate may be decided in the remaining novels in The Fall, but if that's not to be, I'd hope her character would have some sort of resolution as part of the exposition for an Aventine series. OTOH, given the ship's propensity for traveling everywhere in the known universe (and beyond), maybe this is the time for Will Decker to make his return to normal space.

I'm guessing Riker's promotion is so he can assist Akaar with the investigation and possible resistance to Ishan's scheme.

Anyone else get the feeling that all of this may lead to a conflict within Starfleet itself, between those willing to support Ishan (like Unverzagt) and those who don't?

I've thought about that. But I don't see how they could explore something like that and get it resolved with just the two novels left. They'd have to do another book series to do something like that justice, IMO.
